Allison strolled her way to that little pub in Vermont that she went to Hannah, before she went to college. She was 17 years old the last time they did that, and then they both parted ways. Now, they were old…or it felt like that. Hannah was getting married, had a stable job and she was happy. Alli, well..she was happy too, but in her own way. In a way that her parents weren’t that happy. They still had that aura of nervousness when it had to do with how unstable Alli’s lifestyle was. Especially after the pregnancy. Most likely more…after the pregnancy.
She went in the pub and looked around, having a warm feeling on her chest. Hannah was going to arrive in about half an hour; she usually had a timer, when she overworked herself. She jumped on a stuhl, just to order a beer for her. Her eyes caught a very familiar face. Too familar, she’d say. And he was with a girl. Was he on a date? Grabbing her beer, she jumped off the stuhl with a smug smile on her face. “Well, well…well…didn’t know I’d find you here”, she smirked at him and then, looked at the other woman. Damn, she was too pretty! “How have you been?”, she said with a smile, turning to him. Damn he was even more handsome than the last time they met.
Spencer sighed to himself as he pulled in his usual spot in front of the townhome he shared with his girlfriend, his grip on the steering wheel loosening as he sunk into the seat. His head was spinning and the last person he wanted to see was Nora, but he promised to take her out that night to celebrate a work achievement... Or something, he hadn’t really been listening as intently as he let on. Regardless, he made the promise and he couldn’t back out of it now. With a sense of hesitation coursing through his body, Spencer reached for his phone and texted his girlfriend to let her know he was outside waiting for her.
Within a matter of minutes, he could see the familiar head of blonde hair pop out of the door. The rest of the ride to the pub consisted mostly of Nora going on and on about her day and how she felt she wasn’t appreciated enough at work to which Spencer simply nodded and offered the occasional ‘you’re right’ whenever appropriate. After what felt like forever, he finally pulled into the lot of the pub and parked. Somewhere between his car and the entrance of the pub, Spencer talked himself into cheering up and at least trying to act happy for Nora’s sake. Once they sat, he immediately ordered them both drinks and just as he was about to turn to his girlfriend, he heard a familiar voice... One he never thought he would hear again. He carefully turned his head and his jaw nearly hit the ground when he saw her... Allison, just as beautiful as she had been the last time he saw her. “Allison?” his voice cracked. It was almost as though his girlfriend didn’t exist in that moment. “H-how are you?” Spencer felt his girlfriend nudge him and that brought him back to earth. “Oh, this is my girlfriend... Nora,” he paused. “And Nora, this is an old friend of mine, Allison.”
