OC Halloween Challenge — October 15th — Soulmate AU!
Cassiopeia F. Black & Eoin Cavanaugh in a Soulmarks AU
(So this is the first time in year that I write a story with an end, and I'm not sure about the final product. I just hope you do like it!!!)
Soulmate, a term known, but so little explained, what a soulmate, several researches have been done whether by the charm master, or the Unspeakable in The Locked Room or call by some the room of love. Everyone without exception have a soulmate someone who complements you and on whom you can rely without hesitation. From birth a unique mark that represents the person destined to be with them appears on a part of the body, sometimes a darkened mark appears, this could mean two things, the person represented by the mark is not yet born or unfortunately they died before the birth of their other half. On rare occasions people are born without any mark, these are the ones that Destiny can not define from birth who will be their soulmate, those whose path of life is not set in stone, those who according of the choice they made in life will have many people who could become their soulmates. These most often discover their soulmate after a decisive event that leads them to a single path, it is at that moment that the mark appears. The people who can become the other half are born with a mark that often will not change colors, while the chosen person will see his mark changing colors when the time is right.
Cassiopeia spent her youth asking her mother questions about Soulmarks, why did she have two? Why one of them was only a grayish color and not black like those whose soulmate was not part of the world anymore? Why was she born without any marks while all her friends had them? Every time Gwen tried to answer her daughter's questions, but like the majority of people she could not explain much about them. She could only speculate, she had two marks, because a change occurs in her life that put her in need of a new soulmate to support the loss of the first, that the one representing her father was only graying, because he was still alive, only imprisoned and he could not be there as the pillars she needed. That her lack of marks should not disturb her that she would receive one when the time was right, that she had a long winding path waiting for her before she could find the person who would complete her. Cassiopeia finally stopped asking questions about soulmates, she realized that maybe she was broken and not entitled to some things as beautiful as a soulmate that being the single child of Sirius Black might have made her unlovable in the eyes of people. People were always afraid of her father and at the same time of her thinking she would end up like him.
The more the years went by and the more she figured out that she did not need it, that having her friends in her life was enough, that she could count on Harry, Ron, Hermione and Eoin and that with them she had everything she needed. Of course, she still dreamed a few times to see a mark appears, but it always just an illusion and let it go. Then came that fateful date, the day she saw her father fall in the veil of the department of Mysteries. As Lupin was taking her back to the school, she felt a piercing pain on her hip bone believing it be an injury following the battle she didn’t gave it any other thoughts. It was only a few days later that she realized that what she thought was pain from an injury was actually a mark and not just any mark a soul one. At last she had a Soulmark! The first things she did was looking at it more carefully, she felt breathless when she realized what the mark was representing, there was a small doubt about who was the recipient of the other mark, she was hoping she was right and was not letting her heart cloud her judgment. As she was walking the halls towards the charms classroom she heard two voices confirming her conclusions:
“I never thought it would happen, my mark changes colors. I do have a soulmate!”
“Do you have any idea of who it can be Eoin?”
“Yes, but I prefer to see with this person first Harry, before telling anyone else”
Cassie, not wanting anyone to know that she heard the conversation silently went away and pretend that nothing out of the ordinary happens. She wanted to see if she was really the one Eoin was going to talk to. A few days later, she finds herself in front of Eoin in the prefect common room where he asked her if some things had changed in the recent weeks if she had any pain. Knowing that this was the moment the most important of her life, she slowly approached him and put her hand on his hip bone where her own mark was situated. He gave her a small smile before placing his lips on her, as soon as their lips touched, they felt like everything was shifting in places, that their life was finally complete.
