NEVER STOP HATING!!!!!!!
something about leia organa that is still revolutionary in 2025 is that her capability as a leader is never mocked, diminished, or somehow otherwise belittled because of her gender. the narrative and every character around her takes her role as a leader of the alliance completely seriously. no one has to make a qualifier that “she’s a strong leader But….” whereas many stories (including star wars stories!) feel the need to contextualize women leaders as “women in a man’s world” who have to constantly navigate patriarchy, rather than leaders who deal with complex problems and who make decisions that affect those around them. no one ever discounts leia because of her gender. she explodes onto the screen as a capable leader and no one questions it
okay this is dubious canon at best but the idea that all rebel pilots are constantly on stimulants does make sense to me because of well. the history of warfare. it then totally paints esb in a new light because imagine you're luke skywalker, in active withdrawal from your army-mandated uppers, and some fucking frog wizard shows up
actually sooooo fucking annoying how good of a character jaime lannister is. most pathetic obnoxious bratty guy. he canonically peaked at 19. and yet he really is the goat. "there are no men like me" fuck OFFFF WHY ARE YOU RIGHT
star wars is about a lot of things. and one of them is child exploitation
y’all ever think about how crazy it is that every parental or mentor figure luke had lied to him? owen and beru lied, obi wan lied, yoda lied. the only person who was actually honest with him was vader
one of the most fun things about anidala for me is that they don’t really know each other. hear me out—i do think they have a deep understanding and respect for one another, a deep love for one another, the two of them met as children and keep meeting and have this undeniably close bond w one another that they don’t really share w anyone else. however!! on screen we see their romance blossom through fairly extreme circumstances. presumably they spent most of their marriage apart from one another because of the war, and there are large chunks of their lives that they can’t share together. and these are two people who quite clearly want to be together All The Time and do have so much in common but because of these extreme circumstances they completely skipped the getting to know you phase and went straight into the soul crushing devotion phase.
it all comes back to those scenes of them playing together on naboo. who are these two people without the war? we’ll never know, and neither will they.
the thing is leia IS angry and she IS full of justified rage. but she’s also passionate and kind and caring and deeply loving. she’s deeply committed to her political and personal ideals. she’s self sacrificing. she’s impatient. she’s a workaholic who doesn’t know how to take a break from the war she’s running at nineteen. she’ll do anything to make sure the galaxy is a safer and more just place for others. she’s theoretically a pacifist but also won’t hesitate. she’s full of deep unending grief. she’s a powerful force user. she never needed the force to be a leader and to be taken seriously.
