Episode 002: The Third Planet From Sol
NARRATOR: It is the third Izarian day, of this Quintilis, the seventh Izarian month, in the thirteen thousandth (common) year of the Common Era. Eliya Alaricia, captain of the Regel Explorer TOS-42, sits in her captain’s chair. A routine mission to check on the progress of the harvesting of resources from the planets Aeris and Ducit, their moons, and their star, Truem, has gone awry. The computer insists on sending them to the third planet from the star Sol, in the Via Lactea Galaxy. The third planet from Sol is known as Terra, and long ago, Homo sapiens sapiens evolved there. When they departed from the planet, it was uninhabitable, and hostile towards all forms of life. Ten thousand years later, no one knows what will await our crew as they enter the planet’s orbit.

Hidden Hospitals: EP 002
In less than three weeks I will be in my happy place, on my way to San Francisco for the start of New Found Glory’s Sticks & Stones Tour, but working from home has caused me to lose my ability to live with very little sleep. So today was the first day of my “training.” I woke up earlier than normal and wrote about the (hopefully amazing) Boy Meets World spin-off and now am tackling the music off Hidden Hospitals’ EP 002. It’s mature rock for an adult audience, so if you know me…it’s not necessarily my thing.

Hidden Hospitals
This new post will be a two part series..
(1 of 2)
Last week I decided to head to my one of my favorite concert venues in Chicago to celebrate the release of Hidden Hospital's new EP 002. The show was a blast and it was quite enjoyable to see so many concert-goers dressed up in Halloween spirits.
HH played fantastic. Although there were a few moments when the sound engineer couldn't capture the fluctuating highs and lows of David, the band came out and played with a lot of energy, introduced some cool new sounds and made the most of their 30 minutes on stage.
Possibly my favorite moment was when Steve broke a string halfway through the 4th or 5th song and was able to pull out a new SG, change straps, completely re-tune it and just right in the perfect moment of Swan Dive when you really really really needed two guitars. Job well done and it was perfect. I don't even think people recognized how difficult that was to pull off in the middle of the set.
Alright alright, I'll stop talking about the set, but below is one of my favorites of their new EP. Enjoy!
Hidden Hospitals to Release 'EP 002' on October 30th
Hidden Hospitals will be self releasing their EP002 . Recorded in Nashville and mixed and produced by J. Hall, EP 002 is the Chicago band’s deepest dive into music yet. As front man David Raymond explains, “After absorbing the experience of our first EP (001) we discovered all of these new sounds that I feel are unique to us as a group. In other words, they wouldn't have surfaced had we not been exposed to each other. EP 002 is parallel to this exploration, discovery, and mindful application.”
And so it begins...
