episode 188: Free from the Spell! the Great Warrior Sheds Tears!
Seto being the only one to stop the violence is a great character moment. we can really tell he looks up to Kalgara and wants him to keep his word.
the look of smugness getting wiped away and replaced with genuine concern as NOLAND LITERALLY MOVES A CONTINENT is fucking awesome. love noland already.
even beaten and bloodied, noland won't back down. fuck yeah dude.
interesting to note that the snake is much smaller here, barely larger than Kalgara, so something crazy must have happened for it to grow so damn massive all these years later.
UGH kalgara stopping the snake just as it's about to eat him is SO GOOD. love the energy, the power, the dramatic pose.
this is so sweet, and very humanizing. poor kalgara is struggling to reconcile the old with the new. knowing that he technically did something "wrong" to save noland and the village is such a good moral dilemma.
love that they are just BROS now.
stunning to see it in its heyday, that bell truly is glorious.

they're gonna loot the place dry lol, they're pirates! but that bell wouldn't fit in the ship anyway so it's fine.
seto making friends is good to see! he's a good kid, solid head on his shoulders.
i wonder if this line means to imply they do everything they do because of their ancestors, not necessarily because of their gods. like maybe it started out separately and eventually the ancestors morphed into gods that controlled their life.
also cool that this shows that the poneglyphs are OLD OLD. like tens of thousands of years old. we have no idea how specifically, but they were here before the people who were here before, so *very* old is an accurate guess.
love that the bell is central to their identity. could very easily be like some sorta majetic bejeweled tower, but the bell being something that has a physical form and a long-range, lasting presence is cool too. like even if you don't know the shandians, you still hear the bells. it lives both with and beyond them.
this little guy is so cute! he has a lot of growin' to do!
i think that's the same/ similar to the one nami had. is the island well-known? or are the shandians just really well hidden?
great shot. love the two of them together.
kinda hate this. why would the villagers not trust him? he literally saved their lives. yeah he desecrated their religion, but you guys could just... talk??? like ugh i hate this trope. and these guys were friends not 24 hours ago!!!!
KALGARA JUST TALK TO YOUR BRO SERIOUSLY!!!! ugh wtf
GUYS YOU NEED THERAPY PLEASE DON'T END IT LIKE THIS WHAT THE FUCK GOD
London is now a surveillance state but what else is new
Hey, uh, maybe don’t listen to the episode 188 Listener Questions of Welcome to Night Vale if you struggle with unreality and delusions and the like.
It starts out sounding like a regular listener questions type episode from a regular podcast, but it is not.
I’m not tagging this with unreality since it is a warning for the episode. I wouldn’t want to tag it and then have people not see it because of that.
WARNING: MAJOR EPISODE 188 SPOILERS AHEAD
While this episode was certainly mind-explodey, it also gives us a lot of cool information on the geography of Night Vale! Basically it was a cool bit of worldbuilding and I kinda want to draw a Night Vale map.
Also!
So when Joseph approaches the recording booth, we can here Cecil (Palmer) saying “I hope all of you out there have someone to sleep through it with. Or, at least, good memories of when you did.”
Which is his sign-off in the first episode! Which implies time travel, to some extent. So Joseph traveled through time when he went to Cecil (Baldwin)’s apartment and ended up in Night Vale. Which is... neat.
Not much happens in today's Welcome to Night Vale episode but boy was it the first time I've been scared while listening.
Oh hey, new TMA for Patrons, sweet
Ah this statement seems a bit light compared to the last couple
