Vegan Satay & Zhongzi. To mark the Dragon Boat Festival, E-PACS Vegan Cafe had made available special vegan zhongzi/chang. It had soy product faux meat, shiitake mushroom, chestnut and spiced with ketumbar, encased in glutinous rice that had been stir-fried and wrapped in bamboo leaf. My kind of zhongzi, $4.50. Also tried the vegan satay skewers of exquisitely spiced tvp. The satay came with traditional accompaniments: ketupat (dumpling made from rice packed inside a diamond-shaped container of woven palm leaf pouch), cucumber and satay sauce. The satay skewers had a consistency that didn't veer into chewy & dry, a problem with meat skewers. #epacsvegancafe #epacs #nandinaave #easttamaki #veganzhongzi #veganchang #dragonboatfestival #vegansatay #ketupat #vegansatayskewers #veganpeanutsauce (at E-PACS Vegan Cafe & Vegetarian SuperMart NZ) https://www.instagram.com/p/ByeWEYopnWm/?igshid=wezr79prjgho
