he'd been awoken suddenly and harshly, gasping for breath and unable to stop the whimpering. it takes a moment for him to register where he is, to register scott's presence. he exhales, long and shaky, trying his best to scrub the images of the lab from his mind. he hadn't told scott everything about his past, had left a lot of it vague, the memories too much for him to handle. it seems, though, that leaving it all buried deep hadn't exactly done much to help.
heaving breaths escape him as he tries to calm down, his heart pounding so hard that some part of him thinks it'll burst out of his chest. that had been a bad one, much worse than what he's gotten used to dealing with. slowly he'll lay back, cuddling into scott, still whimpering quietly as his head moves to rest on scott's chest. it's not likely that he'll go back to sleep, but at least he's not alone.
