1, 7, 8, 13!
1. of the fic you’ve written, which are you most proud of? Uh, complete works only? Because that's a short list... I'd probably say my RBB, Only By Entering The Wolf's Den, which will be posted in roughly a week. It's probably the longest fic I've actually completed, I greatly enjoy the themes, and I worked hard on it. But from EVERYTHING, WIP included? It's hands down my original fic, Dark Sight, which I'll be returning to when I'm done with my current Teen Wolf WIPs. I'm proud of it because I love the worldbuilding, I love the cultural clashes, and the whole puppeteer culture is super interesting to me. But I also love it because of the challenge of writing a blind main/POV character (incidentally, it's also set in a non-white country/nation/state, but I'm struggling with how to express that when the POV character is blind), and the effect it (along with his amnesia) has on his identity, especially in the context of a culture he only vaguely remembers anymore.
7. create a character on the spot…. NOW! Lavernia Danelle Caliestra Tirstheim (call her Vern) comes from a long line of great storytellers. So great, in fact, that it earned her family noble status quite a few generations ago (she loses count of how many greats she needs to put before "grandmother" to hit the right one). She grew up hearing all the great stories of their time, and with more encouragement than most would get when it came to making up her own. She fiercely loves her (now gone) parents for raising her that way, and tries to spread this love for stories in any way she can to the people around her. She tried being married, once, and it wasn't really her thing. It was something of a relief, really, when her husband died at sea, and she's endlessly grateful they didn't have any kids. It's more than enough to sometimes borrow the kids of her servants and fellow nobles and fill their brains with all the stories nobody else wants them to know, and unleash them on the world. Sometimes, she wishes she could have a close friend and confidant, or maybe that her husband could have been that (she thinks they would've gotten along better, had that been the case), but she's a noblewoman from an old family. She knows that's not how it goes. Instead, she hides her secrets and worries in her stories, and makes sure no single person gets them all. Because knowing something or someone is to have power over it/them, and really. Vern prefers being the one with the upper hand.
8. is there a character you love writing for the most? the least? why? Oh, SO MANY GOOD ONES TO CHOOSE FROM! But I think I'm going to have to pick my original character Navadomiel, aka Ruby. He's the Angel of Love, who's been living on earth for the past two millennia or thereabouts. He's the owner of a large chain of strip clubs (and restaurants), and is a dancer himself at one of his clubs. He's a firm believer in fair wages and keeping his employees safe and happy. He's also in a (permanently) long-term relationship with a vampire. Least favourite character to write is Aristomachiel, Angel of Leadership, because he's a scumbag who firmly believes the ends justify the means, and that his revolt against his God and resulting Angel Civil War is perfectly okay, no matter how many get hurt or killed, because He Is Right (uh, someone told me that this Angel revolt/civil war thing was done on Supernatural as well, but a. I haven't watched that far, and b. I created this world and storyline in '04-'05, so don't bug me about plagiarism or whatever). I usually just have him in the background because I CANNOT STAND actually writing him.
13. who are your favorite writers? Terry Pratchett, Diana Wynne Jones, Jane Lindskold, Robin Hobb, and, while she's a mangaka and not a dedicated writer, her stories and characters are excellent, so Yuki Midorikawa goes here as well.
