The Dawn of the Bat Migration in Kasanka National Park, Zambia
The Wildebeest Migration in the Serengeti National Park might be the most famous exodus but, nothing beats the dawn sky of Kasanka National Park between October to December in Zambia, filled with around ten million fruit bats.
The specter of this sight itself is overwhelming to the senses. National Geographic rightfully tags it as ¨Africa´s ´Other´ Epic Migration¨. Crossing the visual treat, comes in the sound of countless cries echoeing through the savanna of northern Zambia combined with that of the millions of flapping wings.
A safari guide has once put the worldś highest density of mammalian biomass as, ¨700 elephants flying overhead¨. Such is its impact! The aroma of an early rain-season shower against the bloody red dawn sky, only enhances the overall experience.
