fiction may not be reality, but its audience exists within reality and can easily replicate the messages of fictional works in the real world, where it has very real consequences. anon should be mindful of the influence of fictional works in media due to what it can cause depending on portrayals and messages sent.
works of fiction can be used to great social effect in controlling public opinions, such as perpetuating racial stereotypes in common and popular media to ensure the oppression of poc on a social level to maintain a wider systemic oppression on the public front. similarly, works of fiction can be used to portray harmful issues in positive light in order to perpetuate and reinforce highly harmful behaviours and actions if the media becomes widely viewed and unchallenged.
