〘 byakuya 〙 the kuchiki's eyes are instinctively drawn to that naked blade. the power leaking from it is a clear indication that zaraki's finally unlocked its power; though he's heard recountings of the other man's part in the war, it's still something of a surprise that a man so careless and brutish has managed to achieve anything of the sort. he is mildly curious to see if the hearsay is true. however, given their last skirmish…
"i decline. knowing your zanpakuto's name does not change that you fight with no skill." it makes for a rather dull, unsatisfactory battle; his own skill has increased greatly since his visit to the royal realm. the kenpachi has him outmatched in raw strength, stamina perhaps, but nothing else. "the gotei has seen enough destruction."
maybe, for once, zaraki will make the intelligent decision and leave without a fight———but the noble doesn't think it'll be that easy.
A frown comes to his face as he hears the words. Of course it wouldn't be that easy... But if he wants to exchange barbs, far be it from Kenpachi to deny him. This is simply another kind of battle, one that he doesn't normally perform, but still finds fun.
"alright, if you're sure... i thought that the head of a noble house wouldn't hesitate to smack down some mongrel who broke an old door. but i guess even heavenly training didn't make you less scared o' me."
He turns, readying himself to leave, but he calls out over his shoulder. The taunts are fun to work with, and they're mostly to get him in the mood to fight. Kenpachi knows that Byakuya's strong, it's why he wants to face him in battle, and has wanted to for a long time. It's disappointing that Byakuya's analysis of him is so shallow, though...
"but if you ain't... i'll be outside the walls in the forest near west district one, if you don't think it'll get yer sandals too dirty."
