The new episode of the summer I turned pretty really solidified so many things for me. I have always been team Conrad. Wholeheartedly. From the books and from the show. But this new episode has really made me feel things I have already been feeling. The way belly is isolated by the way the boys see her. While the majority of the time we see the show and books through her eyes. Seeing belly through Conrad is something so special.
Like don’t get me wrong belly has fucked up a lot. But she is human and young. So it makes sense. She has a lot to learn.
Conrad sees her as a whole person. This is the belly we all know and love. She is able to have deep conversations and still poke fun at each other. She lights up every damn time when he’s there. She is calm, relaxed and very much belly. She is comfortable in her curiosity and willingness to learn and talk.
It’s insane the difference between the way she is with Conrad and Jeremiah.
I feel like we have kind of forgotten that Belly is really smart and loves to learn. I think we also forget to mention that Conrad has been the one who taught her most.
They complement each other really well it’s insane.
I think what laurel said in season one still applies.
“For Belly, Conrad is the sun, and when the sun comes out the stars disappear.”
But now it applies to Conrad.
Because when he sees her every single thing disappears.
