The 100 weekly rewatch episode 1.5
Okay people this is my longest recap ever. But this episode gives me a lot of feelings. I tried to keep it coherent, but my stenographer approach seems to be sticking around here we go: Cold open to flarke the morning after 😑 I wonder if there wasn't just a bit of truth in his joke. Clarke is a 2 rounds kinda gal apparently & Candles everywhere like another short lived ship we know. "The prison section has been on half air since midnight" Jaha is so deadpan about this kinda stuff. "320 people will be murdered, Jaha" Abby has such a moral center. This show makes a habit of showcasing how people send others to die for them/ do the work for them. Cut to Raven still being a badass falling through space.alone. Here is Clarke trying to share the bunker with the 100 & Finn is like nah lets keep it a secret incase we need to hide another murderer? I'm thinking boy wanted it for the reasons we saw at the beginning of this episode 😏 awwww I love that he brings up making a wish. He really does mean to be sweet. He's just super immature. Hello shirtless Bellamy. With your "girl squad"😏 I honestly think the reason he's with so many random girls these first days on the ground is because 1. He probably never had a chance to be with girls on the ark because he couldn't let himself get close to anyone to keep Octavia safe. & more importantly 2.Just like Clarke with Niylah in 3x1, Bellamy is absolutely desperate for human connection. Bellamy is not a loner, but he's had to be one for the past year. No sister. No mom. He craves female affection & validation that's all he knows. He's never known male/fatherly affection. He's never been a "bro" so it makes sense he'd look for female affection & he thinks this is the only way he can get it. By "putting out" & being aggressive. Funnily enough after "day trip" you don't see him with other girls (except Raven I'll cover that when we get there) & it's because Clarke is the first girl not related to him that offers him care & friendship with no strings attached. Sorry this was a long tangent. Awwww the ginger man & his sweet daughter! 😭 I wish they would've confirmed that she made it to the ground! I still worry about her. Jackson is always there to give Abby whatever she needs. He's one of the unsung heros. Raven is out cold. Here comes Flarke. This is where Clarke starts her never ending "where's Bellamy? How's Bellamy? Bellamy?"Mantra that she never stops lol Ohhhh this is when Clarke starts associating her feelings as "distractions" I wonder if she didn't start this mindset if we coulda had Bellarke in season 1. Oh hi my Blake babies. Octavia doesn't like deceit. She doesn't realize all his motivations come from loving her too much. He even tells her he made the choice to protect her but she still acts like everything is always his fault. Sigh. " all residents will be in their sleep period" geez Kane. This part always makes me a bit queasy. Jaha has always been an all or nothing kinda guy hasn't he? He doesn't ever have balance. He's kind of a zealot. "You have a strength that's not weakened by sentiment" lolz Jaha saying this to Kane now makes me think of Kane's speech in 3x8 My have the tables turned. Marcus Kane has such an amazing character arc from this episode to 3x8 it's mind blowing. Oh season 1 Bellamy *sigh* season 2 & 3 Bellamy would kick you for not taking care of Raven. Btw Bellamy Blake also has one of the most amazing character arcs on a tv show ever. "Oh crap that's not good" Raven is so calm in this scene. Awww happy Raven seeing the ground for the first time is one of the shows best moments. Queue the awkward kissing & the non love triangle lol awww Clarke is so deflated in this scene. She legit doesn't know what to do so she just stands there awkwardly. I love how Raven is like your Abby's daughter? I love that woman! Jaha preparing to die. I think he really does have a wreck less kind of depression. It comes across as "noble" but really he's not in a heathy place. Abby kept Jakes recording, how did she manage that? She's always been a bit of anti ark rules person. Even when she follows them, she knew something was off. (Kind of like how Bellamy had his line in the sand with pike in season 3) She saved that incase. she knew a day would come where she's couldn't cross the line. I've always thought this fall of Octavia's was not convincing lol looking at tracker/warrior Octavia now it's so funny to think she couldn't find her way. These kids learn a lot in 6 months. "Hey princess you taking a walk in the woods? Oh Bellamy you punk. Dang Clarke/Finn/Raven hitting, yelling & blaming is not the way to talk Bellamy around. "Hey shooter" "I should've killed you" man Bell & Raven have come a long way. I love this face Bellamy make when he realizes he's not a murderer. Bob is so freakin' good with his micro expressions. "You're not a murderer, you always did what you had to to protect your sister, THATS who you are" I love this scene. This is Clarke for the third time affirming Bellamy with who she believes he REALLY is. When he responds "it's to late" he is staring into her eyes like he wants to absorb her, I think he's so taken aback by her constant belief in him as a person. & it's beautiful. Abby going full on anarchy with her speech. She & Clarke both are so hardcore about their belief in "the right thing" they would die for it. And it's just beautiful. "Hold up" awww Raven you've been on earth like 2 hours & you are already saving everyone's ass. Awww sweet ginger man again 😢 "Greater love hath no man than this, that he lay down his life for his friends" I thought of this scripture when I watched this part for the first time. I teared up so bad, it's such a beautifully hopeful look at the goodness of humanity. Raven trying to befriend Clarke & Clarke's like NOPE! But then she's a genius, so kind to her & shows her care for Abby...you can see Clarke is like "dang it! I can't hate her" so the great brotp begins. "They spoke to something that was already inside of them" I actually really love Jaha in this scene. Part of me wishes he would've died on the ark, I actually liked his season 1 arc. "One decision does not define a man" damn if one line sums up Marcus Kane it's that line. This is why he never gives up on people. He never gave up on Bellamy, Clarke, Lexa, even himself. Even when everyone proves how good they are at making bad decisions. He & Clarke are actually very similar in this belief. He knows we can do better. He can do better. And so he does little by little. Ginger man!! You hurt my heart!!! Omg she will never see him again. I still can't take this scene. "If there's any word from Raven they will call immediately." Marcus is already making better decisions. This is the first "soft look" Abby gives him. I think she must've cared for him before things got bitter between them. You can tell him saying that was like soothing a wound between them.this was where I whispered "Kabby?" & set my ship out to sea. This part is so sad. & the song is perfect. & jahas voice over, & ginger man staring at the hair clip. I am emotion. Could you imagine?! they probably knew all these people. & they literally sucked the air out of their lungs. You will never be forgotten ginger man. " can you wish on this kind of shooting star?" "i wouldn't even know what to wish for" "what about you?" I love this scene. They are finally at a place of friendship. This scene is actually very much like the Kabby scene we just had. Their Not quite "close" but they are already working towards each other. I pray one day we get a parallel to this scene. Hello Lincoln! What an entrance my man. "We make the best choices we can, then we put our faith in a forgiving God" man I really like Jaha in this episode. I love that as soon as Abby says "do you think we deserve to be forgiven?" She sees the flares, their almost a sign, calling back to Kane's earlier words "one decision does not define a man." we are all given chances we don't "deserve" that's why forgiveness exists. & why it's so important. Season one is almost a thesis on forgiveness: giving it, receiving it, deserving it. This show is beautiful. Phew!!! this was an extra long recap guys!!! But there was so much stuff to cover in this episode! If you made it to the end, congrats!!! & thank you for reading & sharing any feedback :) I'm tagging @rosymamacita @abazethe100 @irisouy @insufficient-earth-skills @easnadh1 you all may be just crazy enough to read it to the end 😂
