Never ask what could possibly go wrong everyone knows that's a terrible idea. Meg recaps The 100 4x06: When We Rise http://bit.ly/2mSsfn9
Objectively The Tinder Box was a mess but it was also pretty fun so let's call it a draw. http://bit.ly/2mdj3K8
The 100 weekly rewatch episode 1.5
Okay people this is my longest recap ever. But this episode gives me a lot of feelings. I tried to keep it coherent, but my stenographer approach seems to be sticking around here we go: Cold open to flarke the morning after 😑 I wonder if there wasn't just a bit of truth in his joke. Clarke is a 2 rounds kinda gal apparently & Candles everywhere like another short lived ship we know. "The prison section has been on half air since midnight" Jaha is so deadpan about this kinda stuff. "320 people will be murdered, Jaha" Abby has such a moral center. This show makes a habit of showcasing how people send others to die for them/ do the work for them. Cut to Raven still being a badass falling through space.alone. Here is Clarke trying to share the bunker with the 100 & Finn is like nah lets keep it a secret incase we need to hide another murderer? I'm thinking boy wanted it for the reasons we saw at the beginning of this episode 😏 awwww I love that he brings up making a wish. He really does mean to be sweet. He's just super immature. Hello shirtless Bellamy. With your "girl squad"😏 I honestly think the reason he's with so many random girls these first days on the ground is because 1. He probably never had a chance to be with girls on the ark because he couldn't let himself get close to anyone to keep Octavia safe. & more importantly 2.Just like Clarke with Niylah in 3x1, Bellamy is absolutely desperate for human connection. Bellamy is not a loner, but he's had to be one for the past year. No sister. No mom. He craves female affection & validation that's all he knows. He's never known male/fatherly affection. He's never been a "bro" so it makes sense he'd look for female affection & he thinks this is the only way he can get it. By "putting out" & being aggressive. Funnily enough after "day trip" you don't see him with other girls (except Raven I'll cover that when we get there) & it's because Clarke is the first girl not related to him that offers him care & friendship with no strings attached. Sorry this was a long tangent. Awwww the ginger man & his sweet daughter! 😭 I wish they would've confirmed that she made it to the ground! I still worry about her. Jackson is always there to give Abby whatever she needs. He's one of the unsung heros. Raven is out cold. Here comes Flarke. This is where Clarke starts her never ending "where's Bellamy? How's Bellamy? Bellamy?"Mantra that she never stops lol Ohhhh this is when Clarke starts associating her feelings as "distractions" I wonder if she didn't start this mindset if we coulda had Bellarke in season 1. Oh hi my Blake babies. Octavia doesn't like deceit. She doesn't realize all his motivations come from loving her too much. He even tells her he made the choice to protect her but she still acts like everything is always his fault. Sigh. " all residents will be in their sleep period" geez Kane. This part always makes me a bit queasy. Jaha has always been an all or nothing kinda guy hasn't he? He doesn't ever have balance. He's kind of a zealot. "You have a strength that's not weakened by sentiment" lolz Jaha saying this to Kane now makes me think of Kane's speech in 3x8 My have the tables turned. Marcus Kane has such an amazing character arc from this episode to 3x8 it's mind blowing. Oh season 1 Bellamy *sigh* season 2 & 3 Bellamy would kick you for not taking care of Raven. Btw Bellamy Blake also has one of the most amazing character arcs on a tv show ever. "Oh crap that's not good" Raven is so calm in this scene. Awww happy Raven seeing the ground for the first time is one of the shows best moments. Queue the awkward kissing & the non love triangle lol awww Clarke is so deflated in this scene. She legit doesn't know what to do so she just stands there awkwardly. I love how Raven is like your Abby's daughter? I love that woman! Jaha preparing to die. I think he really does have a wreck less kind of depression. It comes across as "noble" but really he's not in a heathy place. Abby kept Jakes recording, how did she manage that? She's always been a bit of anti ark rules person. Even when she follows them, she knew something was off. (Kind of like how Bellamy had his line in the sand with pike in season 3) She saved that incase. she knew a day would come where she's couldn't cross the line. I've always thought this fall of Octavia's was not convincing lol looking at tracker/warrior Octavia now it's so funny to think she couldn't find her way. These kids learn a lot in 6 months. "Hey princess you taking a walk in the woods? Oh Bellamy you punk. Dang Clarke/Finn/Raven hitting, yelling & blaming is not the way to talk Bellamy around. "Hey shooter" "I should've killed you" man Bell & Raven have come a long way. I love this face Bellamy make when he realizes he's not a murderer. Bob is so freakin' good with his micro expressions. "You're not a murderer, you always did what you had to to protect your sister, THATS who you are" I love this scene. This is Clarke for the third time affirming Bellamy with who she believes he REALLY is. When he responds "it's to late" he is staring into her eyes like he wants to absorb her, I think he's so taken aback by her constant belief in him as a person. & it's beautiful. Abby going full on anarchy with her speech. She & Clarke both are so hardcore about their belief in "the right thing" they would die for it. And it's just beautiful. "Hold up" awww Raven you've been on earth like 2 hours & you are already saving everyone's ass. Awww sweet ginger man again 😢 "Greater love hath no man than this, that he lay down his life for his friends" I thought of this scripture when I watched this part for the first time. I teared up so bad, it's such a beautifully hopeful look at the goodness of humanity. Raven trying to befriend Clarke & Clarke's like NOPE! But then she's a genius, so kind to her & shows her care for Abby...you can see Clarke is like "dang it! I can't hate her" so the great brotp begins. "They spoke to something that was already inside of them" I actually really love Jaha in this scene. Part of me wishes he would've died on the ark, I actually liked his season 1 arc. "One decision does not define a man" damn if one line sums up Marcus Kane it's that line. This is why he never gives up on people. He never gave up on Bellamy, Clarke, Lexa, even himself. Even when everyone proves how good they are at making bad decisions. He & Clarke are actually very similar in this belief. He knows we can do better. He can do better. And so he does little by little. Ginger man!! You hurt my heart!!! Omg she will never see him again. I still can't take this scene. "If there's any word from Raven they will call immediately." Marcus is already making better decisions. This is the first "soft look" Abby gives him. I think she must've cared for him before things got bitter between them. You can tell him saying that was like soothing a wound between them.this was where I whispered "Kabby?" & set my ship out to sea. This part is so sad. & the song is perfect. & jahas voice over, & ginger man staring at the hair clip. I am emotion. Could you imagine?! they probably knew all these people. & they literally sucked the air out of their lungs. You will never be forgotten ginger man. " can you wish on this kind of shooting star?" "i wouldn't even know what to wish for" "what about you?" I love this scene. They are finally at a place of friendship. This scene is actually very much like the Kabby scene we just had. Their Not quite "close" but they are already working towards each other. I pray one day we get a parallel to this scene. Hello Lincoln! What an entrance my man. "We make the best choices we can, then we put our faith in a forgiving God" man I really like Jaha in this episode. I love that as soon as Abby says "do you think we deserve to be forgiven?" She sees the flares, their almost a sign, calling back to Kane's earlier words "one decision does not define a man." we are all given chances we don't "deserve" that's why forgiveness exists. & why it's so important. Season one is almost a thesis on forgiveness: giving it, receiving it, deserving it. This show is beautiful. Phew!!! this was an extra long recap guys!!! But there was so much stuff to cover in this episode! If you made it to the end, congrats!!! & thank you for reading & sharing any feedback :) I'm tagging @rosymamacita @abazethe100 @irisouy @insufficient-earth-skills @easnadh1 you all may be just crazy enough to read it to the end 😂
The 100 weekly rewatch episode 1.4
I wasn’t going to post this from last night, because other people post them & they’re usually way better at it! But I was bored at my desk so I edited my notes from last night & here we are! I took note like a stenographer as I watched. I tried to keep it coherent :
Awww wells traded his stuff to get her art supplies. Sweetheart. We actually do get to see Clarke mourn for a moment here.
Clarke being vengeful & angry. Her & Abby have come along way from this.
Awww Jackson holding Abby’s hand 😢 He’s precious. (remember ALIE talking about his mom dying in 3.10) I bet after his mom died Abby took him under her wing like she does Raven.
Murphy. sigh.So problematic “Hey, you got this?” Aww Bellamy being all sweet & teasing with Charlotte. He’s totally adopted her at this point. Bless him.
Awww Octavia is so sweet to Jasper she’s always the one to help him face his fears or pain. (She does it a ton in season 3)
“ I’m tracking everybody Abby.” I’m pretty sure this scene was ark!kane attempting to flirt. I love Raven reassuring & supporting Abby. Raven’s always been caring.
Anyone else notice how the “council” in this tent scene is the same Luna mission team from 3.13 & 3.14 I’ve noticed they like to pair Bellamy & Clarke with Octavia & Jasper. & like Jasper kinda becomes Bellamy’s “second” like Jasper actually leads the MW kids in Ssn 2. But in the control room it switches to Monty & in season 3 it’s still Monty mostly. (Because most of the time Jasper is a hot mess)
Bellamy trying to explain to Clarke how bad her plan is but she won’t listen….this turns out to be a bit of a pattern.
Clarke really messed up by doing this group confrontation. Oh Bellamy sides with Clarke. And now we have the angry mob & proof that groups make bad decisions. The first time I watched this it made me squirm. I was so uncomfortable.
“You can stop this!” Clarke’s first attempt at validating Bellamy. Telling him he’s not a villain or a monster. But he doesn’t listen. he lets the crowd sway him. Poor Murphy. Bellamy knows he screwed up now. Bellamy’s look of horror when Charlotte says she killed wells.
Oh hello Nygel, I feel like she would fit in in “orange is the new black.” This is one of the few times this show broaches the topic of the ark “black market”. I’m glad they bring that up a bit. “Raven from the block” about to kick some a** lol
Bellamy & Clarke are in full parent mode in this scene. Bellamy always sayings it’s gonna be okay. “Now you stay quiet” Bellamy “always on point with my sarcasm” Blake.
I feel bad for Murphy but man he’s a jerk here. All He really needs is a hug. Jasper always rises to the occasion when one of his friends is in danger or needs protected He’s not as weak as people think.
I love how Abby’s like “you went to Nygel? great.” Abby is bold & cunning. Clarke has turned out to be so much like her.
Even here Finn won’t treat Clarke like an equal. He doesn’t explain where they are going. He just expects her to follow him. No questions asked. & then he chides her for snapping at Charlotte. Which I mean she is a kid, but it doesn’t mean Clarke has to coddle her & say she “didn’t mean to.” The girl needs to be told what she did was wrong. “you can’t just kill someone to make yourself feel better.” I wonder if this is what Clarke was thinking about when she decided not to kill emerson in 3.06
Again with Finn “deciding” the bunker needs to be a secret, without Clarke’s or the groups input. He is selfish and He & Clarke are both lone wolves…I think this causes an imbalance. Bellamy is not a loner. He relies on the family dynamic, probably because that’s how he & his mom kept Octavia safe. Include people in decision making. We see what Clarke’s lone wolf decision making does in Ssn 3. Murphy’s a loner too. Man Murphy & Clarke do have a lot in common. They both tend to isolate themselves. Independence can be damaging in some ways.
Raven is a badass. She & Clarke are the “get sh*t” done squad.
Awww Vera 😊 sweet doll of a lady. She is why Kane is really a teddy bear on the inside.“Your friend” it seems like Kane & Abby were friends & had a falling out. Was it the Jake thing? Or was it something before that? “Waste of water if you ask me” kane: “not to them” he’s always been good with understanding people & their politics & beliefs.
Bellamy has probably been looking for Charlotte all night guys. After he got knocked unconscious,it makes me think of 3.02 a bit now. “I’m not your sister” oh Charlotte but you are.“I won’t leave you” Bellamy “save all the children” Blake this boy is loyal to a fault. He literally carries her away.
“How about I pace in the operating room next time you’re working” I love Raven. Jackson such a loyal cinnamon roll. Raven & Abby are so brave guys. Awwww 😢 Abby sacrificing herself for Raven.
Oh the cliff. Clarke is the only one Bellamy & Murphy will stop to listen too. Bellamy is starting to let his soft side come out. He just wants to protect her. Aww Charlotte 😢 you were so young.
the first “Bellarke frame” there’s so much emotion in their faces. they really did have Clarke & Bellamy become charlottes surrogate parents. & the only reason that would matter is to give them a quest, to function in unison. They needed a common goal. The writers gave them one. Bellamy’s automatic response to trauma: Fight! “No! I was wrong before,YOU were right.” Clarke validating Bellamy again, showing she values his leadership. This time he listens. Bellamy using strong words to scare the others back into submission. He knows how to talk. So starts Murphy’s 3 season long arc of going from “surviving alone” to “life is better together.”
Kane being conflicted. Empathizing & yet knowing he’s gotta “do his job.” Raven you precious superhero you :)
The first shot of “co-leaders” Bellarke’s first “together” stance. Yay!
Poor Jasper, frying the bracelets. Octavia is so sweet to Jasper. She’s never shown him any aggression. She is super sensitive to him. I love how the show has certain characters build stronger friendships with each other, it’s very realistic.
And now: “Flarke” *sigh* Clarke is never good with words. So she reacts “physically.” I really hope this kinda thing happens with Bellamy except just like hugs/kissing. I want them to move slow & steady. As we know this flarke situation ends badly. And right after we see sweet baby Raven falling through space alone, holding on to the love she has for Finn as her hope. Raven really is an angelic superhero! Did ya notice how much I said her name in this post? Lol
If you made it to the end, yay! Thanks for reading my ramblings. We are officially one month closer to season 4! I’m tagging @junebugninja @irisouy @insufficient-earth-skills for fun & @rosymamacita @the-ships-to-rule-them-all because I love reading both your recaps :)
My review "coup de grâce" 211
ALL THAT WHAT I'M SAYING ARE MY PERSONAL OPINIONS
SPOILERS
First of all: Bellamy's a real Badass. He really kicked the ass of Lovejoy (even if this is actually sad for his son). He was really really amazing, but it was the only amazing thing in the episode.
Clarke's getting stronger, maybe a little bit too much. She hasn't the right to talk this way to her mother, or Raven. I never really loved Raven, but she's strong, and without her, they all would have been kill a thousand times at least. Clarke's is not leading them anymore, she's giving them orders. I hope this will change, because I really loved her character and I don't want it to become a mean one, even if she's trying to save everyone. But as always, she has good ideas.
Octavia: I don't really know if I like the new Octavia: Grounder Octavia. She changed a lot too, she's not the same person since she met Indra. Indra changed her and I don't know if it's good or not. She looks angry, and she become dangerous: if Clarke hadn't stop her about killing the mountain men, she would've do it. I know she went through a lot of things, but I don't want her to become the next Indra.
Abby: I think that the power of Chancellor make her different too. She's afraid for Clarke, obviously, but I think that she's afraid to lose this power too, and Clarke is taking the all power, but not as Chancellor: she took it as Leader, and she's right. Even kane said it.
Maya: I never loved her. But in this episode I begin to appreciate her: she definitely knows what's right and what's not. She defends the sky people, and, without her, Bellamy would be dead too.
Bellarke: Jason said there would be a little bit of Bellarke in this episode: I agree that they have a discussion and that they're both glad to hear each other. Point. I thought that one of them would have talk about his felling for the other but yea, it's maybe a too big revelation for now.
To finish, I'm afraid that the sky people who gave their blood for the mountain men won't be able to get out of Mt Weather: they didn't just took their blood off, they changed blood, so while (Bellamy for exemple) Bellamy was giving his blood through a tube, the other tube put the blood of the mountain men in his body. It could affect their reaction to the radiations...
Anyway, I won't survive til the next episode.
May we meet again.
