Skyline Motel, Epoufette, Michigan: the name of the town translates to "a place of rest". The key fob lists the town as Naubinway, but that's due to Epoufette being unincorporated. That’s Lake Michigan outside the window.

Milky Way
Recently I traveled up to the Upper Peninsula during a new moon to shoot the Milky Way. All of these shots were made along Highway 2 adjacent to the north side of Lake Michigan.
The first image was made not long after sunset, and the effect is rather weak. This was taken just east of the Cut River Bridge (a historic structure built in 1947). The second photograph was made at a “scenic overlook” just west of Epoufette—it’s getting later now, and the galaxy is a bit more evident. And the final view was made a bit more west on Highway 2, and later of course, so the effect is getting stronger. This spot is five or six miles west of Epoufette, where the road is right adjacent to the water.

Kickin’ it Old School, part two
A few more views from a short trip up to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The first image shows us a couple of vintage buildings in Trout Lake, an old railroad town, with trains still rolling through daily (on one of the two original lines at least). Not sure if they’re combined, but the building on the right houses the Trout Lake Tavern & Grill. The second photo gives us a typical view out of one’s windshield in these parts. And the last is my table for a late lunch at Epoufette’s Bayview Inn.
