RANT
"You must have some extreme social issues if you have to pay money to make friends, get drugged and raped by frat guys, and depend solely on your sorority experience to find a job later on in life."
I saw this little number on Facebook about 5 minutes ago. I had to re-read it like 10 times to make sure this ignorant prick was actually saying these words. I'm not one to take offense to a lot of things on Facebook because a majority of people on Facebook are idiots who really don't matter. But this one.....too far, asshole.
First off, I don't "pay money to make friends." I have sisters. Just because I pledged and crossed doesn't automatically establish that title with every girl in my sorority, but guess what? I do consider my sisters actual sisters. I've seen my sisters band together in time of need so quickly that I get whiplash. My sisters are the first ones I turn to in a time of need because I KNOW they're the ones to give me the best advice. And the fees I pay my sorority? That money goes to our philanthropy and towards our educational programs that we have every semester. I don't pay my sisters to love me and vice versa. So fuck you once.
Second off, "get drugged and raped by frat guys?" There is so much wrong with this statement that I wish I could reach into the computer and punch you in the groin. Rape is nothing to joke about. I just can't even with this. Like, how much of a prick can you be to even think of a statement like that?
And finally, "and depend solely on your sorority experience to find a job later in life." I agree with this to an extent. My sorority experience will somewhat help me find a job later in life. Not because of connections or anything. Because of the traits I've gained from my sorority experience with programs and meetings and such. But I will not depend on my sorority experience solely. I will depend on the fact that I'm an educated woman who knows what she wants in life and will work harder than anybody to get there. So before you open your mouth again and try to talk about something you think you understand, don't.
