Retirement agrees with some people. Rayleigh is not one of them, and he knows it. There is no place for a weapon at a home; he is a creature of violence too sharp for the warmth of a comfortable life.
Or: a story about an old man who has a life that is too much and too little for a (former) pirate. A story about contemplation, about finding temporary peace, a story about love that is given and held close up to the point where it becomes too much and then left to breathe so it can be picked up again.
