my eyes tremble

the room about me swims

I'm drowning in it

my heart is jumping

breaching the roof of the flood

as my red hands

decorated with violet veins

cry out to me to throw them

they maul the edge of the chair

as they swell into paws

hair and claws

ripping the handles of my seat

soaring past my face

crashing one after the other

into the spackled

cream-coloured wall

the fever receding

my swimming eyes coming to shore

an exorcism
