Mr Holmes had known Mr Shaw since Cecelia’s infancy, probably longer. Mr Holmes liked Mr Shaw because he was a good lawyer, and Mr Holmes needed a good lawyer. This had made little to no affect on Cecelia’s life until recently, where upon she had lunch with her father and was scolded for not ‘looking up’ Mr Shaw’s son. Who was, by the way, rather good looking and single. Cee had scowled, Mr Holmes had moved on quickly, and the matter had been dropped. That was, until, she had a call from her father's secretary saying a lunch had been settled between herself and William, and to cancel would be an embarrassment to Mr Holmes when he was to meet the man’s father later that week. Hence the pretty dress, the fancy restaurant, the apologetic look as she stands to greet her lunch date. “William, I am so sorry we were forced meet like this, I suppose our fathers think if they’re a good match, we must be.” She holds out her hand, and her tone is friendly. Don’t take it out on him.
