it was certainly... unexpected. finding her standing right there in the middle of an event hosted by the same people that was after her not too long ago; thanks to information he provided. alive in a way she shouldn’t be, if only his dear partner had done the job he was supposed to do. his plan of sneaking out without being seen was suddenly useless as a clumsy human bumped into him and fell down, causing nearby eyes to turn his way. only thing he could do was awkwardly stare and hope she didn’t put two and two together for now.

alice can only smile wide and clap softly out of pure excitement when she sees her best friend looking as great as she envisioned when she sent her the dress. “oh my god! you look amazing, even better in person than i thought.”

“——— dude, please tell me i’m not the only one that feels like we just willingly walked into the monster’s cave and even paid for it.” the vampire smell was everywhere, he had sensed it the moment he set foot inside the hotel. he only hoped he wasn’t the only one that thought there was ‘wrong’ written all over this event.

“——— do you have any idea why they would do something like this?” she spoke low enough for only both of them to hear. there was something that just didn’t add up, and added to the fact that she could feel something coming... it all had her on edge. “i haven’t been able to see anything yet but i know there’s something big on the way.”

“——— i know being here is starting to feel like going to a candy shop and not being able to get anything at all; but could you maybe try to tone down the murderous stare? people are starting to notice...” he took a sip of the contents of the wine glass in his hand, knowing full well he was going to have to cough it up later. all for the sake of keeping up the front. “i think there are still some blood bags left, if this whole thing is making you that hungry.”

“——— i feel like i should be enjoying this more but i’m not sure if i can....” she’d been resting her head on his arm, looking at the rest of the attendants. all the sounds, the smells, the amount of people ( both humans and non-humans ) proved to be way more overwhelming than she had anticipated. “the one good thing is that i got to see you all suited up but, hm, how are you holding up?”

“——— i guess they really didn’t want any of you to sit this one out, huh? even the twins are out here...” she approached her brother with a partially empty champagne glass in her hand; she had been thinking a few sips mostly out of obligation... she was committed to the facade. “i don’t wanna hear anything along the lines of ‘you shouldn’t be here’ by the way, i am here already and i’m not leaving... formal attire events are so rare nowadays”

christine was...well, not quite attempting to track liam’s scent, but basically attempting to track his scent. a masquerade was always a fun time in her book, but hidden faces made things slightly difficult in a crowded room. nonetheless, the brunette floated around the room, champagne flute in hand. she’d be social when necessary, but she was most determined to find liam.

her senses must have been...off...because the person standing before her was not her boyfriend (if he fit that label?), but she carried his scent. who was this? was she -- was she a human? why did she smell like liam? before she could stop herself, her nose crinkled ever so slightly in disgust. christine attempted to cover by taking a sip of her champagne before engaging in conversation. 

“hi. i’m so sorry to bother you -- i, you haven’t by chance seen a man about yea high, gorgeous facial structure, answers to liam? i lost him on the way in and i really need to speak with him.”
