Taking sociology/equity/women and gender courses is like taking the red pill in the matrix. You're suddenly aware of how society works but everyone around you still has no clue. And it's infuriating because how do you explain the past two years of your schooling?
anyone take Intro To Human Rights & Equity Studies?! online or lectures? :)
Greetings! I have a question about the campus. I will be in Victoria College, but later am thinking of either majoring in Equity Studies (btw have you heard anything about this program? I can't seem to find much information from students and even on their website there isn't much) or International Relations. My question is, since I'll be from Vic, am I going to have my classes veeeery far from my residence? Or is everything closeby? For example, IR classes.
Hey there, ducky :)
Congrats on getting into Victoria College! That is such a beautiful college and I’m sure you’re going to love it there :) Those are both really interesting degrees. I haven’t heard of Equity Studies directly, but a very good friend of mine The Scarlet Woman did women and gender studies if you wanted to ask her questions about some of the courses I’m sure equity involves. For international relations questions, I am gonna direct you to my tag first in case you might develop some more specific questions later.
I think first year classes will likely be in Convocation Hall for your typical huge first year classes. But I think Innis sponsors Equity so more classes might be there in your upper years. But larger classes will generally be in Sid Smith or Con Hall. IR classes in your upper years will be based out of Trinity which isn’t far from Vic. Basically, no matter how you plan it, at some point you are gonna have two classes right after one another that are worlds apart. Some times you might need to take the subway. It is a very unfortunate truth of being a U of T student - but it means you’ll always be the fastest out of your non U of T friends! :P
I hope this helps and let me know if there’s anything else I can do for you,
With love and hope,
Blurty Girl
