That was a special case, a one-time fluke—" Indeed, a one-time exception, no trend intended in a gigai meant to siphon away reiatsu rather than allowing it to recover, a unique play to turn a certain shinigami human for his own ends... He set aside that line of thought and turned his attention back to the captain.
"Now, I'm sure you know a standard gigai is traditionally meant to be used as a sort of support for a shinigami whose reiatsu has been exhausted due to excessive exertion. If anything, I'd expect you to grow stronger in one!"
And perhaps it was sympathy for the sickly veteran, or perhaps it was a practical consideration for his place in the universe, that the shopkeeper found it necessary to add: "In fact, I'll do you one better: I can make certain of it."
