You and @corvus-von-wolff both asked for Sultai, so here goes!

His name is Erahvas, and he’s a panther warrior-turned-Rakshasa from New Urborg on Dominaria. I haven’t worked out much of his character and story, but I know I want him to use some form of necromancy or necromancy-adjacent magic.

Random fact 1: he’s always well dressed and likes to present himself in a way that portrays power and luxury

Random fact 2: his magic is a convenience - he’s very strong and quick, so he can still kick your ass in a fair, hand-to-hand fight

Random fact 3: the ball he uses as a focus to calm down is a childhood toy that holds a lot of sentimental value - bad things would happen if anything ever happened to it

What are Erahvas's hobbies? What does he do to cool down when he's angry?

Ok so I’m gonna start this off with the reason I made a cat fanwalker - I was inspired by this post here, and wanted dumb kitty behaviors.

That said, Erahvas enjoys martial arts, fashion, reading, and birdwatching. He does not care for water. He doesn’t necessarily collect anything, but he does like shiny things.

If he gets angry, he has a ball he rolls back and forth that helps him focus and calm down.

To Erahvas: How dose one become a Rakshasa?

I’m not sure if there’s been an explicit explanation for it in-story, but my reasoning basically just involves making deals with the existing Rakshasa in exchange for power, there being some unforseen downside, and becoming so overwhelmed with black mana that you turn into a demon.

What led Erahvas to become a demon? -Nehebthewordy

Becoming a demon wasn’t specifically part of the plan. What Erahvas sought was power to defeat the Cabal on his home plane of Dominaria. After visiting Tarkir a couple times though, he decided to make deals with the rakshasa, thinking he could take their power and planeswalk away, not being bound to the plane and their terms.

I’m thinking there will be some sort occasional side effects he has to deal with, even off plane, but haven’t worked that out yet.

How has Erahvas coped with being turned into a rakshasa?

Surprisingly well. While the effects of the deals he made were definitely unexpected, he’s totally fine with it as long as he retains the power he gained.

I'm really curious about Erahvas! How did they turn into a Rakshasa? Did they want to or did it just sort of happen? (@leafdrake-haven)

Erahvas’s first planeswalk was to Tarkir. While there, he was tempted with deals and promises of power by the Rakshasa, as he was seeking to gain strength in order to destroy Cabal on his home plane of Dominaria.

Uncertain at first if he wanted to accept, he walked to other planes in search of other options, but something in the back of his head kept nagging him to go back to Tarkir.

I haven’t worked out the details yet, but while he willingly accepted the Rakshasas’ offer (I’ll work out the details of that later), he didn’t know it would overwhelm him with so much black mana and corrupt him to the point of becoming a demon.
