In these last few years, the social circumstances have created a generation of students who feel the urge to go abroad. I’m an Italian girl who’s writing from Cardiff, capital city of Wales. I’m part of this generation and I want to tell you more about my Erasmus experience here.
There were dark days accompanied nearly always by the sound of the rain.
I felt so lost realising the hundred differences and counting between this place and my place. You only need to go groceries to understand what I’m talking about.
But, after two months spent here, I realised that everything was dark since I was walking with my eyes closed. “Cardiff can be a wonderful place, you only need to be patient” - This was the note that I found in my cupboard together with pasta, Nutella and many other italian products. This was my spanish housemate, Isa, she wanted to make me smile and to support me, plus she was totally right.
I am in a different place, so I have to live in a different way. And it is precisely by overcoming these moments that we can grow, flourish and discover how beautiful the world is. And how beautiful we can be in it.
I would like to encourage each and every student not to fear change.
“Life Explosion” is how I want to name this experience, this mixture of feelings, this tornado that’s having the power to demolish my habits and rebuild and adapt them into my new and beautiful life.
