Diana felt... pretty. Valentina had gone all out helping her prepare her costume-- a wig, body paint, prosthetics, the whole nine yards. She did not really know why she had decided to dress as Emily for the ball, but it turned out to have been a good decision. This was the most confident she had felt in a while... Not that that was saying much, considering her confidence had been at rock bottom lately. But it had been a week since she had broken things off with Hwiyoung and she was ready to get out of her funk. She just wanted to enjoy herself.
And that was an endeavour that she probably should have known would not go well, given her life-long track record.
She was sitting in a chair along the wall, sipping a glass of water and nibbling at a cookie while she watched the people out on the dance floor, a small smile tugging at her lips. She saw a few familiar faces, and she was glad to see that they were having a good time. But there was one familiar face that she was not glad to see-- especially as he approached her with a scantily clad girl on his arm and took up residence two seats away from her to get all over each other.
“Are you serious?” She couldn’t help but demand, keeping her face turned toward the dance floor in the hopes that he wouldn’t see the hurt in her expression. She wished that she was surprised that Hwiyoung had moved on so quickly, but she supposed she wasn’t. It did seem extra cruel of him to flaunt it in front of her, though. It made her chest ache, which only upset her further, because she should not feel any heartbreak over that jerk.
