“Hey, hey, hey, be careful.”

Eret held your arms steady as they guided you into your home.

“Just don’t put too much weight on…yeah, there you go,” he commented, letting you grab onto his arm for support.

You carefully let go of your crutches and flopped (carefully) onto the couch.

Letting out a sigh of relief, you breathed, “Thanks.”

“Of course.” She smiled, setting your crutches down before sitting down next to you.

“Geez, broken legs suck, huh?”

You nodded. “Gotta use the crutches for at least six weeks.”

Eret didn’t persist with any more questions or comments, nor did they brush off your reply and tell you ‘tough luck’.

They left you in silence.

A very comfortable silence at that.

Their presence made you happy enough to just be in the room with them, content enough to just exist in the same universe as them.

You were so- actually, no.

You couldn’t just think it.

You needed to say it to him.

“Hey, Eret?”

You looked over at the king, his hands resting on your feet which had somehow ended up in his lap. “Yeah?”

You grinned, opening your mouth again.

“Uh…thanks again for helping me with all of this. And also…”

Eret made eye contact with you. Not prompting you to hurry up and keep talking.

He just waited.

“…I’m just really glad to know you.”

She smiled right back at you.

“Ditto.”
