Detective Conan/Case Closed Re-Read Through: Volume Seventeen

Alright, this volume ends with the conclusion of the case where a woman apparently committed suicide in the pottery shed of a famous pottery maker, but Conan figures out the trick to the murder. Then Kogoro/Richard, Ran/Rachel, and Conan go to the beach where they run into Kogoro/Richard’s wife Eri/Eva. A young woman gets bitten by a sea snake, but then Conan suspects foul play and that whole mystery gets solved. Then a really cute case happens where the Detective Boys/Junior Detective League go to visit Kogoro/Richard in the hospital, but Conan notices a guy acting strange. Turns out this group of bank robbers want him to kill one of the guys who got captured and is in the same hospital room as Kogoro/Richard. They’re holding his daughter hostage, but the Detective Boys/Junior Detective League help him out. Then Kogoro/Richard gets a letter to help investigate someone’s late grandfather’s house, which is full of tons of clocks. They meet some guys, but it turns out they were keeping the granddaughter locked up in the attic. Her grandfather was the mob boss of a group called Goblin, and the guys were in the group wanting the treasure he had hidden. Anyway, the final case ends on a cliffhanger. Kogoro/Richard (Conan and Ran/Rachel go with him) is helping give this famous actor guy, who had played in Samurai movies, some pointers on playing a detective because that’s his new role.  There were rumors that him and his wife were getting a divorce, and she was going to leave him for this other actor guy. Everything seems fine while they wait in their apartment, until his wife ends up dead on the next door balcony.

Least Favorite Thing:

Kogoro/Richard ending up in the hospital because he broke his leg. 

It was also because of a Yoko Okino concert where he got hurt. IS SHE THE BOSS?! WERE THEY TRYING TO KILL HIM?!  ok, calm down

Most Favoritest Thing:

Conan knowing about the tannin helping counteract the venom. And Eri/Eva calling him clever. 

Funniest Moment:

Conan just climbing right onto Ran/Rachel’s lap to check for lipstick on the chair. No regards for personal space, lmao. 

Saddest Moment:

Noooo, Eri/Eva! You still love each other...gaaahhh. #mourifamilyreunion2k17

Cutest Moment:

He sees, he climbs. Way to use your tinyness to help you, lmao. 

Ran/Rachel getting excited about childhood friends marrying, similar to her parents. 

Yaaassss...go Kogoro/Richard. #mourifamilyreunion2k17 

You can’t tell me this is not adorable!!! I’m so glad they could help this poor man by rescuing his daughter. 

Favorite Case:

I don’t even know the actual name of this case, but it shall forever be, in my mind, renamed the Cream Puff Case. Which just goes to show you how freaking adorable this case was. I love cases where nobody dies and it ends happily, okay?!? Cream Puff Case is the purest case. 

I just love when Conan says he’s a detective, so I had to put this here. 

Favorite Character: 

Ran/Rachel being a badass once again! I love her so much. 

Yeah, not a lot of exciting stuff happened in this volume, but the next volume introduces a new character. A pretty important one...oh, well...Takagi appears next volume too, but I’m not talking about him, lmao.
