"The Count" is Charlie Chaplin's 55th film and his fifth, made in 1916 for Mutual Film Corporation.
The film tells the story of Charlie, as a tailor's apprentice, who poses as a count in order to seduce a beautiful woman (Edna Purviance).
The film premiered on September 4th. The film stars Charles Chaplin, Edna Purviance, Eric Campbell, Leo White, May White, Charlotte Mineau, Albert Austin, Stanley J. "Tiny" Sandford, John Rand, James T. Kelly, Leota Bryan, Loyal Underwood, Eva Thatcher, and Frank J. Coleman.
