I kept mentioning a multitude of Thomas Bangalter’s side projects, which makes Guy-Manuel look lazy. That couldn’t be further from the truth, he also did a few solo gigs and one of them is Le Knight Club, a group he had with Eric Chedeville. Their pieces resembles that of Bangalter’s enterprises, i.e. they serve as the sites to test their sounds, which Daft Punk continue to develop and incorporate into their own opus. Thus, Le Knight Club’s tunes have this skeletal quality that points to a different set of paths they could take, though they do work on their own. The one in the link, for instance, may feel unpolished, yet the composition has an addictive groove, which resembles the greatest dance floor hits of the robotic French duo.
