Im usually shooting pics outdoors but a couple days ago it was raining out so I went to go hang at the mall. As you see I couldnt help but to bring the earthy tones right along with me! The combinations of colors in my tank went perfect with these comfy joggers. You can say this is a laid back style.. Also I went and stopped by a few of my favorite stores so I have a lot goodies on the way! Be on the look out..

I have a friend named Ni that I met back in high school who posted something on Instagram a couple of days ago that stole my heart…
This was something I thought about before but to really see her speak on this gave me so much life. Have a listen..It started with a picture that read “Stop telling black children to stay out of the sun because they’ll get too dark.” It explained that people’s fear is rooted in colorism. This is an ongoing issue that children or people period should not go through. Ni commented that her mother called her a goddess every Summer no matter how dark she became. I love it! I agree with this completely. Im not the darkest of the bunch but yes this was a problem for me too. I used to struggle with this issue not because I had a problem with my skin tone but because I know “others” did and they would make fun of it. I remember I would come back from vacation and my grandmother would say..”Child you got BLACK!” She meant no harm but just a simple change of words couldve made a big difference. Just think how much of a difference if would have been if she wouldve said “Child you are a black beauty!” or like my cousin once said “The sun’s chocolate kiss.” No one is born feeling like black is an ugly thing it’s what we fill each other heads up with. This is not just a problem for children. Now its masked away because I guess theres a whole new wave about “pro-naturalism” and “beauty in the melanin”, but there will always be someone still facing this somewhere. I overcame this when I found out this is something that I couldn’t control. Way too many people mistake complexion for beauty, the two doesnt relate or correspond at all. Skin color is not the problem, its culture and its values. Some people will read this wondering why Im making it a big deal, some girls will relate, and some wont even read past the title. Skin color shouldnt be a part of anyone’s worry. We have deeper problems than that in life. Stay classy, focused, and make the best of what cha got! So this blog post is dedicated to my brown skin sisters.. Believe me when I say the Summer is coming and I’m am not running from the sun AT ALL …talk about toasted? I’m going to dress up and show out.. My skin is a lovely bold statement alone honey! (Shirt- H&M, Skirt- H&M, Bag- Target, Shoes- small Philly boutique.)

I’ve learned to live life by sometimes just flowing with my creative juices and not always fitting them into a schedule. I took these photos on my first day at my new job. Right after this, I changed right from my “red velvet” into a white lacey blouse and black pencil skirt. It was so nice out that morning I couldn’t let this one pass me by.. Btw in Philly we’re still early in the chilly Spring time period.
