Monday wrapup

With matches in the B/C/D/RB/45/50/60 and Ladies events it was a busy first day at Tynemouth, with a number of thrilling five-setters but a difficult session to round up !

Highlight of the day was a quote from Ray Rycroft, who was watching Tournament Director Eric Mok struggling to come to terms with the power of Tom Beresford.

“If Eric wins this then I’m Harry Potter,” said super-coach Ray, and of course Eric did magically extract himself with a hard fought five game win.
