I'm a giant dork and my SO is patient, so when we created our character for 'The Bigs 2', we named him Zarry Bito (#57) and made him play for the A's. (Did I have a minor meltdown during our Giants game when the universe divided by zero and put Zarry Bito at bat with Barry Zito (#75) on the mound? Possibly. "If you had stopped giggling, possibly you wouldn't have struck out," my SO said, and possibly this is true too, but there's no proof of that, so nyah.)
But this isn't about Zarry Bito, or even Barry Zito - let's talk about Eric Chavez, whom my SO has developed a soft spot for because when he's at bat as the guy, they become a double factory. Soooo, I was googling Eric Chavez and WHAT ARE THESE ARTICLES, is this paula bott basically writing fanfiction, are you fucking with me, and WHO IS ERIC MUNSON
Both had hoped to in the first round of the Major League Baseball amateur draft. But only Chavez had made the cut. Munson wasn't chosen until late in the second round.
For the first time in their 13-year friendship, Eric Chavez and Eric Munson weren't a package deal.
Never before had Chavez felt like such a stranger to his friend. He asked his parents for advice. Should he initiate the contact? Or should he wait for Munson to call him?
It was Munson who broke the ice.
He began by congratulating Chavez, saying how proud he was that his best friend was the nation's No. 10 pick.
But as the two talked, Munson opened up. He began describing the crushing letdown. Finally, he broke down and started to cry.
Chavez didn't hold back either.
He cried, too. [x]
OH NOOOOOOO WHAT IS THIS THING IN MY HEART
Paula Bott will tell me all about Eric Munson, it seems. Paula Bott, starting articles with "The first thing Eric Munson did yesterday morning when he rolled out of bed was call his best friend, Eric Chavez," telling me about last decade's baseball players, all like:
But Chavez's happiness wasn't complete. The big call had finally come, but his best friend -- the person he'd shared so many ups and downs with -- wasn't there to celebrate.
Munson was hurting, and so was he. [x]
PAULA BOTT!!!!!! :DDDDDDD:
If you scroll down to the bottom, she has basically chronicled their friendshipping and baseballing through this series of articles and am I going to read every single one?? Is it a possibility??? Is this my morning, giftwrapped with a bow????
"Hopefully, one day I can be behind the plate, and Chavez will come up to bat, and we' ll pat each other on the butt," is the way Munson put it in one of his press conferences yesterday. [x]
YES YES MUNSON WE GET THE PICTURE
