Eric Spann
Eric Spann has always been artistic, particularly interested in the way colors play off one another. It was never a question of whether or not he would have a career in the creative world, but rather which medium he would choose.
Spann has a Master of Arts in Christian Education (1988) from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary in Mill Valley, California; a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics emphasis Apparel Design (1984) from University of Arkansas, Fayetteville; and attended an Elite Summer Program at Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, Rhode Island (1986). He has had the opportunity to be a part of continuing education classes including: Hand-Thrown Pottery Wheel in Russellville, AR 2010; Nova Silver-Smith Jewelry-Making School in Chiang Mai, Thailand 2009; Pearl Tying/Hand-knotting Lessons in Hong Kong 2009; Glass Bead-Making course in Little Rock, AR 2007; Handy-Craft Tour/Study in Hanoi, Vietnam 2007; Hill Tribe Fabric Weaving Course in Nan, Thailand 2006.
“There were times when I begged God to remove this innate need, no...compulsion, to create; not in a whining or screaming fit, but more of a simple and earnest request to be removed from the fear that I would go broke in the process of creative discovery. That was years ago...when I was in my early twenties.... At 48 (born in ’66) I've learned that God knows best and has sincerely blessed me with an eye for beauty! I still get fairly nervous when beginning a new piece of art...but work calmly in the fluid hands of Him who is THE ULTIMATE CREATOR” Eric Spann (on 3.18.14)
Eric lives in Little Rock with his wife, Dana, and four children. He is blessed to have the complete support of his mother, Linda, three sisters; Susan, Lisa, and Allison, and two brothers; Quinn and Greg.
