What are your thoughts on Eric? Headcanons, kinks, all that fun stuff. Thanks and thank for running this blog!
Thank you for the thanks even though I’ve been absent a lot (I have a busy life...)
Eric... You asked about kinks... I like to think I know a control freak when I see one and who knows how far that trait goes. He’s also canonically the type who goes nuts with rage when he reaches his limit of tolerance. Not gonna lie, he’s the most frustrated-looking character I’ve ever seen and I’m not sure what I’m insinuating with that.
The fact that he gets all weird and angry when he’s drunk is a fantastic canon fact that needs to be speculated on. RIS probably has a list of crazy things he’s done during their parties but nobody dares to mention them from the next day onwards. They just accumulate in everyone’s collective consciousness. Of course, Eric is so smashed during his most extreme stunts that he has no memory of them.
He collects something. I don’t know what, but I’m 100% sure he does. And whatever it is, he’s a connoisseur of it and can distinguish nearly identical collection pieces that nobody else would be able to. (Maybe it’s something like teacups.)
Collection or not, he hates it when people touch his personal objects. Lily frequently does it anyway out of work necessities (when she needs a file and has no patience to ask), which they get in arguments over.
I don’t know where I’m pulling this out of, but he’s sensitive about being a ginger. Was probably bullied for it as a kid. Tried to dye his hair once in his teenage years with terrible results.
Regarding his dynamic with Keith, he’s always seen him as an extremely cool person and an unreachable ideal at the same time. Eric has hated not having the lack of care Keith has but has given up on trying to be like him after the Dead Kyle mess, seeing the detrimental effects a ‘disorganized individualistic genius’ personality could have.
I always saw Eric as a very specific archetype, the hard worker with a secret admiration/envy for geniuses who overcompensates his lack of natural talent with obsessive effort. This is why he looks up to Keith so much while also jumping on the first opportunity to scold him. On the bright side, he seems to know by now that his nature has its own positive sides, ie. being organized and cooperating with others and I can imagine that cultivating these abilities has led him to develop as a person. There’s something, I think, universally relatable about being confused but fascinated by the presence of people like Keith and getting a bit of an inferiority complex out of it. He’s also shown himself to be able to make the right decisions even when they might frustrate him, like hiring Lily, so whatever issues he has with self-image aren’t hindering his thinking and that’s very positive.
He needs to chill though. Seriously.
