Day 7: Sweet [Eriee]
She was inspired by a jawbreaker (that why the bg). She needs more attention.
It lay in ruins, the one tied to it felt the destruction of war.

I had this dream about a world with people that had no faces. So here is my dream becoming reality to help you guys visualize a new dimension.
Eriee Drabble #1
“It was bad today. I couldn’t – I almost walked out in the middle of a shift. It was like everything that’s happened to me in all my life came crashing down on my head all at once.”
Colee was the only one he could talk to like this. The only one he could open up and give all of himself to. It wasn’t that he didn’t want to be open with the other people in his life, he just couldn’t. There was something about Colee’s flat that made him feel secure and taken care of. There was something about Colee that said it was okay to be himself.
But even in the most magnificent of friendships, there were secrets. Even she didn’t know what happened to make him put away his music so many years ago.
Erik took the saucer from her and gave a sheepish thank you as he raised the mug of steaming hot cocoa, dotted with extra chocolate syrup on top. “Why the hell don’t you work at the BBC, anyway? You make the best fucking cocoa in town,” the male teased.
Her murmuring was leaving him half sleepy and he knew he’d be crashing there that night. It wouldn’t be the first time or the last. “Wanna know what really did it?”
There was no reason to wait for an answer, she always wanted to know. He looked at her, his eyes lighting on the tattoos up and down her arms, as he tried to think of how to say the words that were bursting at his seams. “She reminded me of – well, Claudia. I know that you think it’s stupid I still think of her. She just – she disappeared but fuck, sometimes you just can’t get that shit outta your head. The what-ifs.”
The silence was surrounding them both and Erik pulled his blanket closer. Speaking of what-ifs, there was an entire huge one that was never spoken of in this room. “Why didn’t I meet you when I was sixteen, Erik?” He remembered laughing and making some joke about how he was a fucking mess that she couldn’t have even liked back then but
What-if.
He sipped at his cocoa as they talked, mostly about nothing, and she ruffled his hair. He leaned his head back, his eyes a little less bright than usual, bags around his eyes. Holding on to a decade of pain was bound to do that and yet, Erik never talked about it. Even his psychiatrist had given up on bringing down all the walls the boy had built in his heart.
“D’you want to sleep out here?” he asked, offering her up a bit of blanket as he cozied himself into a cocoon on the floor. He knew she’d join him and even if he needed her in the middle of the night, she’d be there. She was always there. When he wanted to take a bottle of pills and stop existing, when he was so sick in his head that he couldn’t understand why anyone would be there, she was.
When she moved closer to him on the living room floor he took her hand and squeezed before opening his mouth. “So there’s this story that I’ve never told you. And maybe now isn’t the time…”
