“Was… was that actually there?
That wasn’t there was it?” (@eriidia from kara)

The brief yet sudden distress complaint from Kara easily caught the attention of the usually hypervigilant former deviant hunter. Immediate fret washed over him, wariness as to any potential peril. A learned response - in some rare instances Connor’s anxiety seemed to have a hair trigger hardwired within his coding from the days of constant watchfulness from within his own mind & the very real consequences of failure looming ever present over his head. Consequences that no longer posed a threat, yet those expectations created by Amanda’s quiet tyranny over his mind built a far greater adversary within; himself.
Psychology was so very complicated. It served to reason why their creators would design their androids to so perfectly replicate them in every way, right down to the ways in which they think & feel. One might also argue that they were never meant to feel at all, but life did find ways to evolve beyond it’s limits & adapt to overcome.
Connor peered past the female in his company, to where Kara’s eyes had rested moments before. He saw nothing, calculated no threat as his sensors picked up no movement to take note of. A moment of confusion as silence lingered, heavy & questioning. He turned his gaze towards the AX model, head cocked a degree to the side as his visage took on manifestation of his perplexity. “ Are you okay? ” was the first thing to come out of his mouth, out of the perpetual myriad of questions circling his CPU, all of which conveyed genuine concern. “ I didn’t see anything. Perhaps you’re----- ” ‘experiencing a glitch’, he finished in his head. He didn’t have the heart to say it aloud.
