Could I request a HC for Phantom Erik. For him helping you figure out your talent to present to the managers, so you can be employed at the Opera Populaire? Could be dancing, singing, making backdrops or costumes, playing an instrument? You decide. 😊
AN: I chose musician, specifically pianist for this!
Christine had chosen Raoul, that much was now evident to Erik
Try as he might he slowly came to the realization that she had never been his and that she would never be his
She did not feel about him the way he felt about her
The Angel of Music as she called him was all he would ever be but he would forever see her as his muse, or so he believed
You often slipped unnoticed around the opera
An office worker you took messages, wrote down what was to be put on posters, and made sure meetings were attended on time
The stories of the Phantom and of his being Christine’s teacher were well known at this time
Part of you wished he had become your teacher
Dreams never truly left a person and your long held dream of being a member of the opera always remained
The only issue was, you had no idea what role you could ever play in the opera
While you wouldn’t call it stage fright you would admit you hated being the center of attention
Participating in the opera as a singer was far out of the question
As was being a builder or a painter, you could follow instructions well but the creativity that came with creating such magnificent pieces you couldn’t fathom
You were aware of some structure but there was still free reign to choose color and paint how you wished, something you feared you would somehow go wrong
Erik often noticed you wandering around the stage late at night thinking, or dreaming rather
There was a piece of him that was still longing for Christine but you had caught his eye, he thought of you, of what you did every night on that stage
Months passed before he ever spoke a word to you
The voice floated up from below the stage and at once you knew who was speaking
Erik believed you would be afraid, yet there was no fear only wonder
Night after night you spoke to one another, Erik venturing out underneath the stage to meet you when the rest of the workers had gone
Night after night the two of you spoke and delved deep into the possibility of your talent
You told him about what had been said about your voice and how you feared you could never build a set or paint a background
But while you had doubts about yourself Erik had none
Time and again a new talent was explored and while they may not have succeeded it was better to know than to forever wonder
And then it changedYou’d gone through everything that would keep you on the stage and Erik encouraged you to head into the pit
Touching the sheet music that had been left there overnight you hoped to feel a connection to something even if the instrument itself was not there.
Nothing brought forth a connection until you brushed you hand over the keys of the orchestra piano.
Sitting on the piano bench you told Erik that this was what your talent was or at least what you would make your talent be
Erik was pleased but kept quiet when it came to his approval of an instrument. Knowing how to play made it much easier to teach
You made him swear that he would play no tricks in order to get you hired as an opera player and he did not
For months you learned and practiced in the dead of night until finally you begged to be given an audition
In his opera box not even two weeks later Erik sat proudly watching not the performance on the stage but you there sitting in the pit
