Mortal Kombat: Into The Soul Part 1 Ermac x reader/oc
Disclaimer: I dont own Mortal Kombat, also this is super short and not so much a.... I guess fluff. It's more inspirational to the character, that's why it's a 2 part. Second one will be the fluff. Also, this is a spin off to a story I used to write. Reader or OC is from our dimension.
Despite always finding comfort in her surroundings, in the people she lived with, she couldn't stop her minds wandering. It was the usual or absent ramblings of someone childish or odd. No, it was the deeper kind or wandering, the one that dipped into ones soul and questioning of current standings or existence. She came her under pretenses that she still couldn't make sense of, with no idea to who she was. All she made sense of was the Krypt, the multiple voices, and her future knowledge that would be of no use because of butterfly effects. She had basic understandings of those around her, some more then others, deep respect for those misunderstood because of goals that were unspoken. Her dark history that slowly came to light and her passive heart to contrasting to blend evenly. There were only two that she trusted beyond basic companionship, or love; they were the family despite differences and goals. A deep respect for one another and for their own paths. She just couldn't understand their devotion to her, both men having dropped so much for her. She was a ticking resolution to the end game, but with plans that couldn't cone to fruition until late, but still the supported her. It was... enlightening to say the least, a deep emotion filling her at the thought of what they have done for her.
Much to her surprise when she found herself seated along the floor again, opening her eyes, she found she wasn't alone. Standing not far from her, propped against her doorway was a man, his eyes a bright illuminating neon green, body covered in bandages. He was dressed in newer apparel, with some bits of his face showing. He had a soft look on his face as he continued to openly stare at her.
" Hey.." She greeted softly.
It wasn't uncommon of him to come in to her room and check on her, it was honestly more common if anything. He often came in or would just stand and stare at her, until she either cracks into telling him what's on her mind or just basis in the comfort his presence brings. He often joined her in meditation, mixing their auras so that she could relax a bit. He was always a comfort despite the short time knowing each other.
" We could feel your distress." He told her gently, multiple voices merging, his form not moving any.
" You always do." She mused lightly patting the spot beside her on her got.
Easily he got off the post for her doorway, floating over to her bed. The neon green whips of the souls that made up his being floating casually around him. With ease he settled himself a bit over the bed, hovering just slightly.
" What is bothering you?" He questioned her eyes not meeting hers just yet, "Usually it is clear what help you need, but we are unable to feel what exactly is bothering."
She paused for a moment eyebrows furrowed at his statement, despite understanding. Ermac had a startlingly amazing sixth sense when it came to figuring out what exactly was bothering her. Much to both their dismay, she didn't know herself either. It was one of those deep questions that just couldn't be answered by someone else.
" It's..... it's not really something I can explain." She murmured softly looking away, " One if those inner soul questioning things."
She had said it like a joke in hopes of steering away his clear concern, almost feeling guilty for how much she's leaned on him sense she arrived. This was a common occurrence with him checking to make sure she was okay, help her process her thoughts despite everything or all the time he needs to keep hold of his souls. His body was still unstable, but he managed.
His bright eyes turned to her with a sort of understanding, it was something he often questioned about himself as well. What with being one of many souls trapped within a single body. Each one always fighting for dominance, what made up him always on top.
Letting out a sigh she continued rambling, " I just... I feel like... My being here is somewhat pointless."
There were so many things that seemed to kick at her, her memory was all future related. She could change so much, and in the same token she didn't want to risk a future she couldn't predict. She barely even noticed the man beside her shifting to face her, his hands gently grabbing her head. Causing her to stop her rambling that had drifted to pointless guilt, her eyes snapping to his, getting lost in the sea of neon green.
" We see a woman, young, beautiful, strong. Always facing the future, trying to save even those lost or gone..." He paused his voice almost ringing in her ears, " While all true, this is not what you want or need to hear."
He found himself peering deep into her radiant soul, the raw love and devotion within quelling the storm raging inside. Her very being was enough to silence most with a small glance, others submitting to her peaceful aura. His skin rejuvenated with expelling magic that seemed to roll off her in waves, filling the holes that naturally wouldn't heal. Connecting the two he allowed her to feel him, feel the calming storm turning to a meadow, feel the relief crawling along his tightly bandaged skin. He could hear a soft sigh escaping her lips as she sagged a bit in his hold.
Nearly immediately all she could see was that neon green, each of the souls dwelling within, see the tethers and bindings that bound them to Ermac. Watching as a wave of content eases the aching souls, filling her own with a sense of clarity. Her own frustrations melted in the soul opening bond the two temporarily shared with Ermac' s link. The doubts in her mind crumbled with a sense of confidence, the questions no longer playing her when she felt all she'd given Ermac. While she had not been aware, she knew of his unstable state, and seeing it even just briefly a façade of peace was something in itself.
breaking the link he pulled away from her, feeling lighter himself, more sure of the young woman before him. More faith in what he and his companion were promised from the Elders. He could feel her power, feel her resolve, her compassion. His loyalty was set in stone.
" Thank you." She managed out almost voiceless.
He didn't say anything, simply return to facing away and began to meditate. Mind finally clear enough to think properly, feeling more alive then he had in weeks. Casting a shy glance in his direction she shifted and allowed herself to mimic him. It was always odd how he managed to calm her, but she valued it in moments like thoughts. With a small smile she opened her mind to herself and dug into her information, absorbing every little detail she could. Swearing she would give everyone the ending they deserve.
