(Woo! Thanks! Hopefully, this is something like what you wanted - I did first meetings.)
2: childhood best friends au
Asahi Azumane had been too tall since the second grade. He’d hit an early growth spurt, standing a head taller than his classmates. In an attempt to shrink down, to hide himself, the nervous child would hunch his shoulders, stick to the sides of hallways, clutch his books to his chest and avoid the gazes of other students.
“Wow, you’re really tall!” A tiny hand thumped against his spine, and Asahi flinched. An excited face snuck into his view, around his folded-over arms and under him to stand on tiptoes and get far, far too close. There were honey eyes, wide and honest, and fluffy, soft hair; when they reached junior high, he’d start to spike it up to add a little to his height. “Someday, I’m gonna get even taller, though!” (He wouldn’t.)
Asahi wasn’t sure how to respond. He felt very…dull, compared to this little ball of electricity. He also felt, as always, far too big. He turned aside, continuing to walk and hoping he’d just be left alone. “Sorry.” He mumbled, hurrying away.
It was two days later when he saw the electric boy again. He was sitting at his desk, reading a book during free time. The door slammed open, an exhausted-looking teacher entering with her hand on a student’s shoulder. “Students, this is Yuu Nishinoya. He’s…transferring, into our class, due to some erratic behavior with his last teacher. I’ll expect you to welcome him with open arms.”
The boy - Nishinoya - grinned, starting to introduce himself, when he noticed Asahi. “I’m Ni- hey! It’s the tall boy!” He waved energetically at the taller boy, hidden in the back corner of the classroom, and the entire class turned to look at him. He went red, ducking his head and mortified at the stares.
Nishinoya’s face dropped. The teacher didn’t seem to notice, saying, “Well, Nishinoya, since you seem to know Asahi, you can go sit next to him. Maybe he’ll calm you down…” She muttered to herself.
Nishinoya nodded, heading over in unusual silence.
“Hi. I’m Nishinoya, but you can just call me Noya, okay?” He introduced himself to Asahi, holding out a hand. Still feeling rather humiliated, the other stared at his hand for a few seconds. Finally, he reached out, giving the small hand a gentle shake with an even softer response.”
