Electoralism isn't a cure all. It won't end corruption or clean the oceans or find the One Great Soul capable of righting the course for a sea of frothing madness long glutted on The Spectacle.

But, christ, if you can't vote for you, vote for the prisoner or the felon who's been disenfranchised. Vote for the poorest in your community, the most vulnerable, those who feel the cruelty hardest. You may not unseat a supreme court justice, but you might fund a community health clinic.

It won't fix the big problems, but it's something.

But Australia, with it's mandatory election emrollement at 18 and voting until you die, is PROOF that your vote matters.

Last election, we had SUCH a swing from our local consevative party who had been in government the past 8 or 9 years, that they couldn't even form an opposition.

Think that through.

This is a party that 3 years ago acheived not just enough of a majority that they were elected, but so much a majority that they were almost unchallenged in the Lower House.

But this election. This fucking election, they failed to even make majority enough to be a single opposition party - instead, they basically share the cross-bench with the very far-left Greens party and a coalition of left-conservative Teal Independants.

It was unheard of. Absolutely stunning to witness.

You want to know who was responsible?

Generation Z and Millennials.

Because of us, not only was the "evil" defeated so soundly it's still weeping from the bruising, but also several left-wing candidates from "the radical left" were elected to a place of relative prominance.

Now I will admit, it's not perfect. Nothing ever is. But it's a start. It's something important.

Voting matters.

Your voice counts.

Stand up for your rights, because if you don't, no one else will. They have their own problems to wrangle.

If you want change, you're gonna have to do it yourself. Change starts in the community and there's not much more community based than voting FOR the people who will do right by your community.

I just wanted to give everyone a heads up that 30+ brands of nutrition drinks including but not limited to Ensure, Pediasure, Glucerna, Oatly, and Premier Protein just got recalled for possible contamination with the bacteria that causes botulism, a paralytic toxin with a lethal dose of 1.3 nanograms. If you've purchased one of the affected lot numbers please return it to the store to be properly disposed of as a biohazard but do not accept any compensatory gift cards because that can be counted as a settlement if you need to file a lawsuit over for any potential damages caused by this later on. Many disabled people including myself and several of my friends drink these brands to help with diabetes/nutritional definiciencies/etc, and a lot of these brands are also popular choices for senior citizens, young children, and athletes. If someone happens to get a bottle that's contaminated with botulism (especially if they're disabled, elderly, or a child) a single sip could potentially kill them

To clarify, when I say "don't accept compensatory gift cards" I don't mean you can't get a refund. You can still get the item refunded but if they say "oh we're so sorry that this happened, let us give you a $20 gift card as well to make it up to you" turn that gift card down. If later on it turns out that you were affected and you try to sue the company for medical bills and damages the company can claim that you already reached a settlement of $20 with them and you're no longer able to sue. This is done in some companies both for recalls of dangerous substances and for on-property injuries that the company could be held liable for. Don't fall for it

hey, i fucking hate walmart as much as the next punk but if you’re broke and can’t drive or don’t have a car and need groceries delivered for whatever reason or are in a food desert, walmart in the US has a 30 trial of walmart+ going on right now where you can get totally free grocery delivery and shipped items to your house, and they take food stamps on these online orders. the service is like $13/month which isn’t horrible, like i said i fucking hate walmart, but if you’re in a food desert, broke, poor, disabled, and or can’t drive this could save your ass
