Hi! If you feel like talking abt it, what were your costuming influences for the Finwion houses tree you did? It’s very *chef’s kiss*, the bg gives it an Official Document vibe as well. Ty!

Hi, thanks a lot ! I always try to mix influences when designing fantasy styles so that the final result won't be too easily identifiable as one culture or era, so there's not real 1:1 correspondance. Since most of these characters are from the First Age, I tried using references that would register as "older" than the usual medieval imagery used for elves : merovingian and byzantine, saxon, post roman (most of these being for jewelry since clothes aren't really featured in the portraits).

I've also been using russian influences for the Vanyar for a while so Indis and some of her children have those kokoshnik-adjacent headdresses ! I also wanted the Teleri to have a more SEA islander vibe so Eärwen's swan headdress and Galadriel's are inspired by indonesian/balinese jamang.

Those who've been around a long time know I do love using references from central asia for elves because there are some cultural/historical parallels and I think it suits them, especially the Noldor, but it's not as strong in those designs in particular. And then of course there's quite a bit of "generic elf imagery" in there lol, silver headbands and wings shapes and stars and whatnot. I kind of designed each character as I went, and since there are fourty of them it's not super thought through haha. I'm glad you enjoyed it though !

Pets can smell so good! I had a dog who hated bad smells and she’d just like…roll in flowers and clean snow all the time. She smelled like grass and fresh outside at all hours.

1. What made you write your WIP?

An iconic shitpost that clawed its way into the idea-making part of my brain and refused to leave.

2. How long have you been working on your WIP?

Since...July of last year? Really? Usually these ideas only give me seratonin for about 3 months

3. How has the WIP changed between starting it and where it is now?

It’s gotten way more historically accurate and much sexier.

4. What came first, the title or the plot?

The plot, definitely, I’ve gone through like 3 title ideas (happy with the current one for now, despite it not technically being a real word)

5. Where did you draw inspiration from?

All of Eva Ibbotson’s iconic romances from the 90s. God, I hope I’m making her ghost proud.

6. Is your WIP part of a series or standalone?

An increasingly elaborate series that I’m genuinely worried is going to render me incapable of any other creative thinking.
