I never posted this before because I was wondering in finish Jake Lalonde too but I was lazy and then I noticed that the god tiers of John and Dave are wrong sooo...

Sometimes I wish I hadn’t given up on ERR0RBOUND.

I was going through my old art, and I stumbled across my ERR0RBOUND concept art, and I just.

I know I was in a bad mental state, and I know I struggle to stick to my projects.

But sometimes I just.

Wish I hadn’t given it up...

Because I remember all the love I poured into this concept art...

ERR0RBOUND

We are not out of the woods just yet; in fact, in some (retro)specs, we are just getting started. WELCOME TO THE KIDSWAP AU, where the kid’s guardians are swapped around and we get to see…what that changes. I think probably by now, if you’ve been following along with these weird note post thingys I’m making, I think you should get the gist that I don’t find them interesting to indulge in, at least at the concept level.

However, so far in ERR0RBOUND, presentation wise, is making me feel like the author probably knows somewhat of what their doing? Like, the fact that we aren’t introduced to the main character in their bedroom, but in media res, is a pretty sweet technique all things considered. Also, the artist DEFINETLY knows how to replicate Hussie’s style, which is a big point in their favour, since that artstyle is VERY GOOD.

Also, if I’m probably just here to note patterns, this is like. The second AU in which we have a shot of the volcano, and the character talking about how it will never be important. Just thought that was interesting.

Oh also some of the actual color text code is broken, which is a shame. But this is, at least, good at going “hey this would be a cool thing to have happen.” It feels like the author isn’t wanting to JUST rehash Homestuck, which is always what you want to see, because if I want to go reread Homestuck, I’d just go and do it.

There’s a panel (62) that is really good. Basically, rose is just thinking of all the things she could do with her time, and then suddenly BAM Bec is there. This is reflected in the narration, but also the gif itself. Not that amazing or noteworthy, perhaps, but THEN you realize (because I tell you) that the gif itself is stylized like a static panel, meaning that the appearance of Bec in the panel will take place in the narration AND the gif AT THE SAME TIME because of how delayed Bec’s appearance in the panel is. I just thought it was a neat effect.

I think the best way to sum this up is, that this is probably the best execution of a Homestuck AU that I have seen so far. I will be seeing other ones that will match, or exceed it, but this is the pinnacle. It was so good I forgot where I had to stop reading it, and that’s pretty good, all things considered.

Oh god poor Rose Harley :( how did john strider perma die? And also what happens to Dave Egbert it looks like all his friends died and he couldn't do anything

Rose was the one who killed him, actually. He was her first casualty, shortly after LORAF. His death caused Jade to fly into a vengeful rage because wow, Rose was actually serious about killing them, it’s time to try and fix this before more shit happens.

Dave ended up being the only one left alive, which was intentional because his character arc was all about learning to shed his naivety. He tried to live on his own for about a week, but the lonelieness and destruction eventually caught up to him. And, as the only one who wasn’t god tier, he decided the only thing he could do would be to join his friends in the dream bubbles.
