It was dark outside. Too dark. The moon had been clouded over, stars choosing to stay hidden from the horror below, leaving the town in total darkness. Almost everyone in the town of Sleepy hollow was smart enough to stay indoors and stay safe during a night like tonight. But you were the exception it seems.
As the veterinarian of the town, you had to attend an emergency for one of the farmers. His prized dairy cow went into labor, but had been calving for much too long. The baby needed to come out now or he'd lose them both. You had rushed over immediately, spending much of the afternoon and night delivering the calf. The mother survived but unfortunately, there was no saving the poor baby.
By the time you were sure that the mother was fine and everything had been resolved, it was much too late in the night.
"Please, stay for the night. It's the least we can do." You smile slightly at the farmer's wife, reaching out to shake her hand before remembering the blood that still remained, and choosing to nod in appreciation instead.
"Thank you very much for the offer, but I don't want to bother the two of you. My home isn't too far from here, I'll be fine." She clings to her husband's arm with a defeated sigh, and he sets a hand on top of her own to comfort her.
"It's too dangerous. The wolves will be out tonight. And in town Ichabod was claiming-" You almost roll your eyes.
"I'm aware of what he was claiming. Lord knows the man hasn't been in his right mind. I'll be fine. No ghost will slay me tonight, I promise you." The farmer shakes his head at your stubbornness, and says a polite goodbye to you as you finally leave.
The night was chilly, windy, and dark. But you wouldn't be swayed. There was no such thing as ghosts. There certainly wasn't some headless soldier that had come back from the beyond, and there wasn't any chance that he'd be after you if he was real. You were a simple person, in plain, blood spattered clothes- not unexpected for a person in your profession. You weren't out of the ordinary.
As you weave your way through the woods, a dark mass catches your eye.
There, in between the trees, was a horse, black as night and all alone. Strange. You whistle at the poor thing, content at the way its ears swing towards you. You smile, and trudge through the trees to approach it.
"Hello there, dear." You say to the animal as you round its side, noticing the saddle. It's neck sways in your direction, and it huffs at you through its nostrils.
"Are you lost?" You step closer, holding a hand out to touch its flank. It's body language changes for the worst for a split second, calming when you gently shush it. Your hand travels up its flank and to its neck, stroking languidly.
"Where's your rider, friend?" The horse huffs again, and it's ears swivel. A chill runs up your spine, but you ignore it, believing it to be from the cold.
"He's right here." A deep voice almost startles you, and the horse almost spooks as well. You don't turn around to see the man, instead choosing to claim the horse.
"She's a beautiful steed." You smile, finding a place by her ears that was a very good place to scratch. The horse almost melts into your hands. The man behind you hums in a surprised way, and you feel him come closer to you, reaching around you to pat her head, his face just out of view. Holy hell, was he tall.
"That she is. I know why we're out here, Stanger, but why are you in the woods all alone?" A little alarm bell rang in your head, but you ignored it, he seemed calm. You should be too.
" 'On my way back home. I'm a veterinarian, 'had to make a stop today." The man chuckles.
"Pretty, and smart too. You're quite a catch." You smile again, blushing,, and go to respond, but your hair stands on end at the noise of a growl to your right. The horse flinches out of your hand. The man behind you sets a hand on your waist just as the pack of wolves come into view. You curse under your breath, and the man's arm wraps fully around you, lifting you into his arms in a quick moment.
"Sorry miss, but I believe I'll be escorting you home today." You squeaked in response, head reeling as he quickly and very impressively mounts his horse with you in his arms, and as the horse rears into the air you finally get a glimpse of his face.
Or lack thereof.
As the man races off Into the night with wolves on his heels, all you can do is stare at his face. A carved jack-o-lantern sat upon his shoulders, barely hanging on as the horse runs faster. The World goes by in a blur, time slurring together as you stare. The headless horsemen had just rescued you from wolves. Ichabod wasn't a fool. And a ghost had been flirting with you.
By the time he loses the wolves, and he slows the horse, you have almost recovered from the shock.
"Where do you live, sweetheart?" The rumble of his chest has you blushing again, and you timidly tell him, eyes remaining on his "face" the entire time.
"Don't be so frightened. I'm not going to kill you." You hum nervously, and the horseman chuckles.
"What's your name?" You ask, a little out of nowhere.
"Erron. But I'm sure you know me as the headless horseman." You nod and Erron shakes his head.
"I didn't expect you to be so… friendly." You say weakly, sitting up a little and adjusting yourself in the saddle. He takes a hand off the reins and places it against your back to steady you.
"I guess I have a soft spot for pretty girls like you."
Before you know it, you're home. Erron hops off his horse, and helps you down by placing both hands on your waist and lifting you off. Once you have both feet steady on the ground, he takes your hand and holds it to the gaping hole that served as his mouth.
"It was a pleasure meeting you, sweetheart. I hope we'll meet again." You're blushing a little too much at the action, and lean up to kiss the cheek of his pumpkin head.

It had been just over a month since you and Erron had confessed your love for each other. Erron had taken a couple of jobs here and there just to keep up his funds. But he always came back to you.
You were looking at your calendar worriedly. Your period was late. By a whole nine days. And that was when it hit you. Erron came inside you when you made love for the first time, and you definitely forgot to make the potion to cancel out pregnancy. ‘Oh fuck.’ You thought to yourself and immediately went to pick the herbs and gather the other ingredients you’d need to test for pregnancy.
You mixed the powders and a you went to the bathroom on it. If it changed colour after a couple of minutes then you were pregnant. If not, then you were in the clear. You sat on the toilet nervously waiting for the timer to go off, purposefully not looking at the test while you waited.
Then you heard the ding and you turned to look at the concoction. What started out yellow was now bright blue. “Fuck.” You said aloud to yourself.
///
Erron came home and he looked around the house for you. Not seeing you in the open living spaces he went to the bedroom to find you. He entered the room and looked around. He didn’t see you in there but noticed that the bathroom door was ajar. He knocked on it quietly and pushed the door open wider. You were sitting on the bath tub holding your sides and crying quietly.
“Darlin’, what’s the matter?” He asked as he immediately knelt down in front of you taking your hands in his. You just shook you head and continued to cry trying not to look at him. But he took your face in his hands and reached up to kiss away the tears on your cheeks. “Sunshine, tell me what’s going on.” He urged.
“No.” You said your voice shaking. “I don’t want you to leave me.”
Erron took off his mask and let it fall to the ground. He looked up at you with concern written all over his handsome face. “Why would I leave you? There’s nothing you could do to make me want to leave you.” He assured. He lifted his hand to brush your hair back. “C’mon doll. Tell me what’s happening.”
You looked at him solemnly. You decided that he had a right to know. That it was only fair that you told him. So you sniffled and gulped, then sighed before you said, “I’m pregnant.”
Erron’s face froze in shock. He didn’t move or say anything for a minute, and you took this as a bad reaction. You started sobbing, not caring if he saw you.
Erron shook his head briefly to come back to reality. “A-are you sure?” he asked slowly. You nodded sadly. You were sure that he would leave you. But to your astonishment a large smile spread across his face. “I’m gonna be a father?!”
You just nodded at him, rather confused by this reaction. But Erron just laughed and took off his hat and ran his fingers over his head looking positively ecstatic. But then he saw your face, eyes puffy and red from crying and all of his happiness was halted.
“Wait, what’s wrong babe?” He asked putting his hands back on yours. “You don’t want it?” he said and for the first time since you’ve known him he looked genuinely terrified. He wanted this baby. He wanted to start a family with you. And he was scared that you didn’t want the same things.
“No, I do…I thought you wouldn’t.” You confessed, still not entirely up to speed on his joy at the situation.
“Are you kiddin’ me darlin’?!” He said with a laugh. He leaned in to kiss you deeply. “It’s all I ever think about. Having a family with you.” Seeing his smile and the absolute cheer behind his eyes made you perk up but ultimately start crying from happiness.
“Really?” You asked smiling.
“Scout’s honour.” He promised.

Erron was gone again while he worked a job to add to your finance pool. His plan was that he would be home constantly during your last trimester and for the first six months or so after the baby was born. It was your second ultrasound and you brought your brother, Johnny with you. You didn’t want to be alone for it. Erron had been there for your first, and you had never seen him so elated or teary eyed than the day when the technician showed the two of you the small bean growing inside of you. You wished that he could be here for the second one to determine the baby’s sex, but you knew that what he was doing was necessary if you wanted to live comfortably after the baby was born.
You were already late to your appointment. You and Johnny got out of the car and rushed inside the doctor’s office. Johnny held out his hand for you to take. You were twenty two weeks pregnant, and he was already treating you like a porcelain doll. When you had told him about your pregnancy, other than being shocked and previously oblivious to your and Erron’s relationship, he was ecstatic that he was finally going to be an uncle, and he took every opportunity to dote and fawn over you.
You walked to the lady at the desk. “Y/n L/n. I’m sorry I’m late I-“ The woman stopped you before you could continue.
“Please take a seat, you will get called in shortly.” She said not giving two fucks about why or even that you were late. You nodded and took a seat with Johnny helping you to put your butt own on the chair. After a moment, your doctor came walking down the hallway.
“Ah, Ms. L/n. Mr. Cage. Please, come in.” She said motioning for you to come down the hallway. Johnny helped you stand up and you groaned and rubbed your baby bump. You had started showing a couple months ago, but it was really visible now. You weren’t sure if you cared what the sex was. You really just wanted it to be healthy. You took a deep breath to prepare yourself and you walked in with the doctor.
You gasped in surprise when you entered the room. Sitting next to the bed was Erron, looking worn and tired as ever. You left Johnny’s arms to run up and hug Erron.
“Easy, darlin’.” He said as he gingerly wrapped his arms around you.
“I thought you weren’t back for a few days yet.” You said but it was really more of a question. He kissed your lips and then your forehead.
“You think I’d miss this?!” He asked enthusiastically, practically beaming at you. He looked up to Johnny and held out his hand for him to shake. “Thank you for being here for her.” He said and Johnny took his hand while nodding at him.
You got onto the bed and lifted up your shirt. You were five months along and by golly was your tummy getting big. The round bump growing was now firm and obvious. The doctor squirted the gel onto your stomach while Erron sat beside you holding your hand and Johnny was sat beside Erron. Everyone watched the screen intently.
The doctor ran the wand along your skin and you all gasped and sighed in amazement as you recognized the shapes of two little feet on the screen. The doctor continued to point out parts of the baby to you as she checked all of the items on her list to show you and to check the development of them. Finally she froze the frame on the screen and pointed to it.
“Do you see this area here?” She asked pointing to the space between the baby’s legs at the hips. You all looked at her waiting for her to continue. “By now we would see a wee little nub growing if it were a boy.” The three of you looked at her expectantly. But then a smile erupted on your face.
“So, it’s a girl?!” You asked excitedly.
“It’s a girl.” The doctor confirmed. Erron exploded with laughter and loud holler.
“I’mma be a daddy to a baby girl!” He exclaimed. Johnny smiled wider than you’d seen from him since Cassie was born. He patted Erron on the back. Erron ran his hands through his hair thrilled before leaning in to give you a big kiss. The doctor wiped the goop off of you before you pulled your shirt back down and sat up. You wrapped your arms around Erron’s neck as he lifted you from under your arms to spin you around once before setting you on the ground.
“Care with the belly.” The doctor warned.
Erron kissed you and said, “I love you, baby girl.” Before he crouched down and put his hands and forehead on your stomach.
“And I love you too, so much, my baby girl.” He said and then kissed your rounding belly.

Erron came home one night after a short mission to Outworld. It was dark in the house and silent as the grave…except for snoring he heard coming from the bedroom. He shook his head and chuckled to himself. You snored. Not that he cared any. It would take a nuclear blast to wake him from his sleep. But he never told you and never would tell you that since becoming pregnant, your snoring volume increased exponentially. As far as he was concerned, you slept like an angel.
He walked to the doorway of the bedroom but was confused when he saw the bed stripped and empty. He turned on the light and looked around. On the other side of the room, behind the bed, the sheets and blankets were laid out on the floor. He walked over to see you sound asleep. He laughed quietly to himself and went to turn the light off.
Erron took off all of his guns and belts, and then his clothes to be how he usually sleeps. He walked over to your sleeping form and got down on the ground next to you, snuggling beside you as he got under the blanket. You woke up briefly from your sleep to look at him through hazy eyes.
“Mm, you’re back.” You said happily as you moved closer to him. Erron wrapped an arm around you to pull you closer to him.
“Why are you on the floor, sunshine?” He asked quietly before placing a kiss to your temple.
“Back hurts less here than on the bed.” You explained before drifting off to sleep. Erron pressed his cheek to the top of your head and laughed to himself again.
“I love you.” He whispered to you although you couldn’t hear as you were fast asleep. You hummed softly as if you were saying, ‘I love you too.’

You watched as Erron put in the last nail into the wall. When you had told him about the baby he immediately started planning to put in a new room to your house. He took only a few more higher paying jobs before he came home with all of the supplies to build the addition that would be the baby’s room. And even though you were shocked to see him like this, you couldn’t be more thrilled.
“I’m thinking yellow…or green.” He said. You smiled. He was very into planning for this baby. You smiled and nodded.
“Either would be nice.” You agreed.
“And I was thinking of names.” He said as he patched up the hole where the nail was with filler. He sanded it down as he looked back at you. You watched his muscles in his shoulders move as he worked. Hot damn! Being pregnant and having your hormones out of whack made you horny as hell. Erron recognized that glint in your eyes and chuckled. “Like what you see, darlin’?”
You nodded and bit your lip. He turned and put down the sand paper. Dusting his hands off he walked over to you. He wrapped his arms around you and pulled you close, careful of your pregnant belly.
“Well, how about I show you more?” He said seductively into your ear. You raised your eyebrows at him in surprise. You would love nothing more than for him to take off his clothes and pound you into oblivion, but you couldn’t because of your baby girl. Erron started to pull you to your bedroom. “Why don’t I remind you all that I can do with my tongue?” He more ordered than asked. You could only nod excitedly as you let him lead you to the bed.
///
You were in the kitchen stirring a pot of brewing potion. You swayed from side to side, letting your weight transfer from leg to leg. When you stood with your weight on both legs at once, for some reason, it hurt your back incredibly. You were seven and a half months pregnant. And heavy as fuck.
Erron sat in the living room, which had unofficially turned into his gun room since staying at home all the time. You didn’t mind though. You just didn’t like it when he would test the aiming mechanisms in the house. You were afraid he might accidentally shoot through the walls or worse. So the back yard had turned into a gun range. Your neighbors were not too pleased with it.
You groaned quietly as you swayed at the stove. It caught Erron’s attention. He stood up and walked up behind you and put his arms around you and started to sway with you.
“You dancin’, darlin’?” He asked you in joking manner.
“My back just hurts is all. All this extra weight in the front has my lower back jacked up.” You explained to him.
“Hmm.” He said and clicked his tongue like he was thinking for a moment. Then his hands came down to the bottom of your pregnant belly and gently lifted your stomach up a little, taking all of the weight off of your back. Immediately the pain was alleviated. You sighed in relief and let your head fall back against Erron’s chest.
“Better?” He asked giving the top of your head a quick peck.
“Mm, holy shit, yes.” You said sighing again, just enjoying the feel of not having to carry that weight for a moment, and then having Erron’s toned and muscled chest behind you, breathing in his smell of gunpowder and leather. “Thank you.” You added.
“Of course. I’ll always take care of my girls.” He said calmly. You reached up your arms behind you to wrap around Erron’s neck, strangely hugging him. He chuckled as he rested his mouth on the top of your head. The two of you continued swaying in each others’ arms for quite some time.
///
The clock read 3:18 AM as Erron sat up in the bed looking for you. You weren’t in bed and he could tell that the light was on on the other side of the door. He got up and walked out of the bedroom to the kitchen to find you sitting at the dining table with a tub of ice cream, quietly crying to yourself.
“Sweetheart?” He asked rushing to you to sit down beside you. He brushed the hair back from your forehead. “What’s going on?” He urged you.
“I’m fat!” You cried waving your spoon around as you spoke. You took another mouthful of ice cream but continued to speak anyway, “I’m gross! My ankles are the size of watermelons! And I’ve got so many stretch marks I look like a topographical map of Arizona!” You said moving your legs out to show that they were indeed swollen. And yes, you did have some really noticeable stretch marks. But you were also eight months pregnant.
Erron sighed and got up from his chair. He came to you and held out his hands for you to take. You reluctantly put down your ice cream and took his hands. You groaned as he pulled you to your feet. He walked you to the middle of the kitchen, then went to the music player and selected a song. He came back and put one of your hands on his shoulder while one of his found the small of your back. His other hand grabbed your free one as he started to sway you to the music.
Have you ever seen a prairie wind
Make a wave on a wheat field bringing needed rain
Have you ever seen a mama stop
A baby’s cry with just the touch and a whisper of his name
When she looks at me
That’s what I see
She’s beautiful like that
As you two moved to the words in the kitchen you couldn’t help but cry at the lyrics. The way that Erron held you and looked at you with nothing but love and adoration in his eyes made you feel truly beautiful… even with the weight, and the ankles, and the stretch marks.
“You will always be nothing but absolutely beautiful to me. Do ya hear me darlin’?” He said as he cupped your face. He bent down to give you a deep kiss and then moved to your cheeks to kiss away the tears there. “You’re growin’ our baby girl in there.” He said referring to your tummy with his head. “So that makes you a walking goddess as far as I’m concerned.”
You couldn’t help but smile at his words and lean to put your head on his chest while you two finished dancing to the song. At the end you shared another kiss before putting the ice cream away, heading back to bed, for the last restful sleep you would get for a long time.
This one took a little bit, sorry if it's not quite as quality as my other fics!
MAJOR TW for Guns, threats, and Kano being a dick to precious puppies.
You and Erron black had grown up together. Two kids brought closer by horrible lives. Sharing the scraps of food you had with each other. Ranting about awful parents, ranting about school. In your teenage years, you were the one to patch him up after fights. He was the one to beat the shit out of your bullies. The two of you hated that town and everyone in it. You used to think the two of you would stay as thick as thieves forever. Your paths only split when you wanted to live a normal life. Live the peaceful, country way you had seen so many others do, but never grew up with yourself. Erron, however, only wanted money, glory. He wanted to take the back roads and do all the things normal folks wouldn't dare to get his fill.
You didn't understand his choice to be a mercenary, but it wasn't your choice to make for him. Whatever life he wanted to have was good enough for you as long as he made it out of that shitty town. He didn't contact you much. He only really showed up on your doorstep when he was dying and needed someone to patch him up. But at least he was coming to see you, right?
With a sigh you stepped into your little country home, smiling slightly at the immediate sounds of your fur babies running to meet you. A blur of orange fur rushing to thread between your legs and trip you, while your sweet pound mutt waited patiently for you to set your keys on the key rack.
"Hey boys." Chester meowed at you rather loudly, only to take off when you leaned down to pet him. The crazy feline darting under Archie's body as he happily waited for his own pets. It was easy to smile at the warm welcome, immediately a little more relaxed after finally getting home. You stretched at the door, setting your bag down to head into the kitchen.
The first thing you settled on was giving your boys their long-awaited scoops of food, both of them sat down neatly next to each other. Only Archie waited for your go-ahead, Chester already digging in by the time you gave him a laughing "Ok, Archie."
You patted your mutt before taking some leftovers out, eyes catching on the printed photo of you and Erron from senior year. It's been a few months since last he came to visit. The thought made you a little sad. But the memory of the photo gave you a nostalgic, happy feeling. With an arm slung around his shoulders, and a goofy look on your face, Erron was the complete opposite of you. The goof pretended to be annoyed at your antics, but you could see the slight smile at the corner of his lips.
"Come on! Just one photo. It's not like it's going to kill you, Erron."
"It's not going to kill me, no. But I might end up killing you."
"Pfft- yeah right."
Your smile grew a bit wider. You sat down at the table alone as you finished your dinner. Erron had always been a strange one. Always tough, trying to be unfeeling. Not wanting anyone to be close. Not wanting any affection besides the one-night stands and the women he infatuated. Always the one to flirt, but never with you.
No. Not ever with you. You smirked. He always acted differently around you. More nervous, more fidgety. You'd been in love with him since before you even knew what love truly was. And you had known for years that he loved you back. You had just been waiting for him to admit it. You'd scoffed at yourself time and time again for not making the first move, but Erron wasn't ready for that. You didn't think he was, at least. You just wished he had gotten therapy like you had asked him to.
The scraping of your fork against your plate was your only indication that you had finished eating, you definitely spaced out a bit. You always did when you thought of Erron. Maybe he would visit soon. Maybe you should stop thinking that to make yourself feel better.
The plate clicked lightly against the floor when you set it down for Archie to lick before you set it in the sink. By the time you turned off all the lights and headed to bed Chester was already asleep on your pillow, Archie curled up in his own bed next to the nightstand. You moved the orange tabby slightly to the side so you could lay down, and he yelled in protest the way that annoyed kitties do. It was easy to slip into a comfortable sleep with your boys next to you.
The sound of your sweet Archie growling a feral warning was what woke you up that night. You shot out of bed, ripping off the covers and grabbing the shotgun from under your mattress. Archie never growls. An unhinged bark sent a jolt of panic through you, along with Chester, who woke up to sprint under your bed and hide. Archie certainly never barked. Not like that. Not in that way. Something was wrong. You clicked off the safety and cocked the shotgun.
You moved slowly at first, creeping your way over to the sound of Archie's growls, but when he let out a sharp whine, your vision went white-hot with rage.
"GET THE FUCK AWAY FROM MY DOG!" You shouted, finally turning the corner and into the living room where two figures lurked. The lamp was still on, and as your eyes adjusted you could make out the masked face of Erron, and the form of some asshole looming over Archie with your baby backed into a wall.
Erron didn't respond at all at the sight of you. The unknown figure by your dog stood up slowly and whistled.
"You did say she was a feisty one." You scowled, keeping the gun pointed squarely on the man.
"Erron. I don't know why you're fucking here, but please tell me you don't know this asshole so I can just shoot him." Erron rolled his eyes at you. The figure laughed, moving away from Archie, who sprinted over to you so that he could cower behind your legs. Your eyes were trained on the figure as he proceeded to sit in your own fucking armchair.
"Name's Kano. Leader of the black dragon." The black dragon. The group of mercenaries that Erron had joined. Why the fuck did Erron bring this guy into your home. Erron called your name.
"Set the gun down, sugar." You didn't take your eyes off of Kano.
"Respectfully, Erron, I don't think I will." Kano laughed, but you didn't think anything was funny. Erron called your name again, strutting over to you carelessly. Archie growled as he got closer. He set a hand on the gun, pushing it down.
"Calm. Down." You huffed but gave in. Sending your friend a nasty look as you lowered your defense. Erron wouldn't willingly let you be in danger. There's no way he would. You had to remember that.
"We came here for some help. 'Know that cave at the edge of your property?" The cave? You found it when you had just moved in, part of an old interlocking set of mining tunnels carved out of the land in the early 1900s. When you checked it out at first, it was Erron who actually went with you. You had a fond memory of fucking around in the tunnel, only to find an old elevator next to a dead-end tunnel with bloody handprints and markings that trailed across the wall and into the elevator. That was enough to get the two out of there. What would they want with it?
"What about it?"
"Those runes we found in it match what a client is looking for. We just want to check it out, and get outa' you're way." You laughed, glancing between Kano, who was currently putting a cigarette out on your favorite chair- and Erron, who still stood next to you in an almost defensive manner.
"Am I supposed to believe that there's no catch to this? No killer secrets? No blackmail?" Kano snickered, standing from his chair and walking over to you. You stood strong, but the beating of your heart sped up. You hated feeling afraid.
"The catch is, you show us the cave, and we leave your little buddy here alive." You scowled, and Erron sighed deeply at his boss, knowing already that he had started something.
"First of all, you don't get shit if you threaten my dog, asshole. You piece of human sh-"
"Just think of it as a favor between friends." Erron interrupted. You frowned at his words. His paycheck was definitely depending on it. Your thoughts split In two different ways. One, the fact that he's using your friendship to manipulate you into doing him a favor, two… it felt relieving that he still thought of you as friends.
You finally gave in, sighing and relaxing almost completely. Archie nuzzles your leg before running off. You turned your head just slightly to watch him out of confusion when a sudden yank catches your attention. Kano had snatched your shotgun straight out of your hands. Erron stiffened next to you.
"I'll take that!"
"You-!" Erron held out back just as you went to lunge at Kano. You struggled against him for just a moment before he gave you a bit of a push to set you back. What had gotten into him?!
"Ah ah ah! Sorry, Sheila, there's no way we're gonna let you keep this on you. Erron?" Kano taunted. You went to yell in protest but only yelped, Erron's hands suddenly holding onto your arm.
"Just comply. It'll be over soon." Erron whispered. You grumbled in protest but didn't fight it as they took you from your warm house.
Kano walked proudly ahead of you and Erron while navigating to the cave. Fucker didn't even know where he was going. You had been scowling the whole time, a surprising feat while Erron was around. Speaking of which, His hand on your arm had softened its hold, but the strangest thing was that he still wouldn't look at you.
"This is your idea of a visit?" You mumbled to him. He shook his head, his heavy steps landing on a twig he forcefully snapped as you walked. He was definitely in a mood.
"This' a business trip, hun. Wouldn't be here if it weren't for that." You snickered.
"Yeah right. You'd end up here eventually." You said the words but didn't quite believe them as you walked. "Don't think you could stay away if you tried."
"-And I tried." You ignored the painful sting in your chest, going silent before shouting another set of directions to Erron's dipshit boss. You could almost feel Erron's gaze change as his eyes remained on you.
"-look, I didn't want you to get caught up in all this. It's bad enough that I'm here now." The words made you frown slightly. You elbowed Erron in the side, trying to make a little light of the situation.
"Better than Kano coming out here by himself." Erron laughed.
" 'Betcha you'd've killed him the moment he stepped into your house."
"I almost did." You couldn't see Erron's smile through his mask, but the happy look in his eyes was infectious. You couldn't help but blush a bit, walking closer to him. His hold on your arm was loose and comfortable at this point, and you couldn't make yourself break out of it.
"You lovebirds done shit-talking or what?" God, you hated this Kano guy. The rest of the walk was silent. After about 30 minutes of almost tripping on fallen limbs, you finally made it to the cave.
"Quite a big place for such a little property, huh?" You didn’t respond to Kano. Ignoring him as Erron guided you to walk past him.
"Oh don't be coy. Where'd all that fire go?" Kano was taunting you again, but both you and Erron ignored him this time. Erron spoke over him when he tried to speak a third time.
"Which way d'you go from here?" You laughed.
"You think I know? I try to stay away from this place as much as I can. Haven't been here since you were with me." Erron furrowed his eyebrows, taking a moment to click a flashlight on. He looked around for a moment, before setting out in a direction. Kano followed behind, a little too close to your back for your liking.
Shivers ran rampant across your skin when you finally found the elevator. Kano pushed past you forcefully, knocking you off balance. Erron caught you with a steady hand around your waist. You relaxed in his touch, and once again pushed forward.
"Ahh! Look at that beauty!" Kano took out a camera, and you flinched at the flash.
"I'm sure the client won't mind if we keep a few copies of the pictures to ourselves, now would he?" Kano laughed. Being around Erron was nice, but you were losing your patience. It was late, you had work in the morning, and you were just plain tired of this black dragon bullshit. You didn't notice when Erron's arm fell away from yours.
"Look, I showed you the cave. Just give me my gun, and let me go back to bed." Kano snickered at your words, Erron loomed behind you.
"I don't think you'll be going far." Kano spat on the ground after he spoke, you scowled.
"Excuse me?" Kano's smile was gritty and disgusting. He whistled at Erron, walking past you with your shotgun held loosely in his grip. You contemplated snatching it, but when you whipped around-
It almost felt like you couldn't breathe. You were staring down the barrel of Erron's pistol for a long moment.
"Look kid, we can't have someone like you knowing about this cave thing, it's too risky and all that blabber, you understand. You've been such a delightful host and all, but it's time for you to go." Kano laughed.
"Can't tell any divine dipshits about our little meeting if she's dead anyway, now can she Erron?" Erron had never been so out of focus before, his stomach wringing in knots. He hardly knew what to think as he pointed the gun at you, something he'd never thought he'd ever do.
"Hey?" A little voice called out. A little face leaning down to peer at the little boy with his head buried unto his knees. He hardly glanced up.
"Hi." He had murmured so quietly.
"Do you want to share this sandwich with me? You look lonely."
"Erron?" Your voice quivered. Panic was written all over your face. His finger lingered on the trigger as his chest squeezed.
"Sit still, dumbass." You squeezed his bloodied arm.
"That shit burns!" He hissed out. You laughed at him, dabbing at the large cut he had gotten from some idiot with broken glass on the school grounds.
"Well duh. It's isopropyl alcohol. It's gonna burn like hell." He was cute when he was confused. You laughed.
"It disinfects the wound, Erron."
"... I knew that. I'm not fucking stupid." He had grumbled.
"Nothin' personal." He finally spoke. The words hurt him as they came out.
"That's not how you use a rifle." Throwing popcorn, at Erron, you quickly stole the remote to turn the volume up.
"Shh! Just shut up and enjoy the movie. Westerns aren't exactly supposed to be realistic."
"Well I can't really enjoy an unrealistic western, can I?- he's holding that wrong-"
Your face started to shift from panic to anger as kano patted Erron's shoulder, walking back into the rickety elevator.
"Panicked now, aren't ya Sheila? Want to beg? Or are you the proud sort?" You snarled at him.
"No." You said stiffly. "No. I want to see you do it, Erron." Kano laughed from the elevator. Erron remained stiff, his smooth voice taking a moment to come out.
"Look, you don't know-"
"I said do it, Erron!" You snapped, stepping closer to the cowboy. He didn't step back, his hand didn't waver. You stepped close enough to him that the barrel of his pistol pressed to your forehead.
"Go ahead! Be Kano's little lapdog. Shoot me." You spat, the adrenaline working its way into your system. "Shoot me and say goodbye to all the FUCKING years I took care of your ass and bury me in that shitty town we grew up in Erron!" Erron's stone-faced seriousness finally broke, and even though he was wearing a mask you could still see the rage in his eyes as he grabbed you by the collar of your shirt and forcefully yanked you closer to him. He kept the gun pressed to the side of your head.
"Do you have any idea who you're provoking? You. don't. know me. anymore. Sugar. You don't have any idea what I'm capable of!" You let out a curt laugh.
"You and I both know I still do." You snarled. Both of you went silent, the tension crackling between the two of you. You could see the panic that hid under the steely overlaying emotion in his eyes. Only Kano's ongoing childish taunts remained.
"Well then, Erron? Get on with it!" Erron's stiff posture remained, he spoke to Kano, but his eyes remained on yours.
"Fuck off Kano." Kano didn't take that well.
"Excuse me? I'm your boss, dipshit. You can't just-" All of a sudden, Erron pushes you back, reels around, and shoots through the spaces in the old metal elevator, the bullet hits the back of the wall, and ricochets through the old, decaying pulley rope that held it up. Kano looks up in horror and rage. His screaming and cursing faded as the elevator launched down and crashed to the very bottom of the mine.
All is silent. All that can be heard is your labored breathing from all the shouting and adrenaline.
"Still want me to shoot you?" Erron asks. Speaking smug words with a tone only you could recognize as him trying to hide his panic. You scowled again. Walking over to him with tears stinging at the corner of your eyes.
"You're such a fucking asshole!" You shouted, punching him in the shoulder. Erron didn't flinch.
"And?" You couldn't stop the tears now. All the pain, and heartbreak, and sadness rushing out at once. You weekly hit his shoulder one more time, and grappled him into a hug, burying your face into his chest without being able to stop your sobs. Erron stood stiff. After a moment, his arms slid around your waist, and he held you back tightly.
"Kano's gonna kill you for that." You laughed through the tears. Erron didn't respond. His hand left your side for only a moment, and when it held onto again he had taken off his mask, letting it drop to the floor. Erron buried his face into your hair, holding you a bit tighter than before.
It was quiet again. Erron squirmed after a moment.
"...I wouldn't have buried you in that town." You snorted, not taking your face out of his chest, biting your nails into the fabric of his shirt just a bit.
"So you admit you would've shot me?" Erron didn't react to the words. He only sighed into your hair, lifting a hand to pinch your ear. You pulled yourself out of his chest with a laugh, and his hands settled on your waist. You wiped your tears, your nose, and tried to make yourself a little better. It didn't really work. Erron could see that. He lifted a calloused hand to your cheek anyway.
"Just because you've come to your fucking senses doesn't mean I'm not still mad." You sniffled, smiling still as the bitter words fell out of your mouth.
"Yeah, well you should be. Kano was being an asshole anyway. That's the only reason I let you go." Erron coughed, you raised an eyebrow at him, clearly not buying it. He rolled his eyes, huffing through his nose.
"... Maybe not the only reason." The smile returned to your face, and you rolled your eyes at him this time. At this point, it was almost like he didn't realize it himself.
"God, you're really not fooling anyone, dumbass." Erron scowled, about to retort when you decided, Fuck it. And clutched his face to pull him into a kiss. He didn't respond at first, stiff and uneasy. Always so stubborn. After a second or two though, he melted into your lips, pulling you closer. It was hard to hold on to all your anger when he was just so kissable. He'd get his ass beaten for this little stunt. You would make sure of that, but right now all you wanted to focus on was the relieving kiss you had waited so long for.

Johnny, your brother, and Cassie, your niece, had come back from their long mission just over a week ago. Erron, even though his job was technically done with Johnny’s return, stuck around for that while before approaching you solemnly.
“What’s wrong?” You had asked him. He was hesitant to answer you.
“There’s a job.” He started, and immediately you could feel both sadness and anger erupt in you all at once. Tears instantly spilled from your eyes as you looked at him incredulously.
“I knew it. I fucking knew it!” You screamed at him turning away from the potions you were working on at the Special Forces base. “I knew you were going to do this! And to think that for a minute I thought that you were telling the truth!”
“Y/n, I -” Erron tried to speak but you interrupted him.
“No! Just fucking go since that was your god damn plan all along!” Your screams echoed through the base and before you finished your sentence Johnny had come running down the hall, terrified that something terrible was happening to you.
And it was. Your heart was imploding. Shattering into a million pieces and scattering over your internal organs. Your whole body ached, your stomach was turning, and your muscles were weak. You had to put a hand on the table to keep yourself up. Everything inside of you was being crushed, and it was because you opened your heart to a liar.
“Y/n, that was never my intention!” Erron said loudly to be heard over you. “It’s just a small job. I’ll be back within a few days.”
“Bullshit!” You spat back at him.
“Woah, woah, woah!” Johnny intervened, “What’s going on here?” He said stepping between the two of you and holding his hands out to keep you apart. He looked at you sadly, remembering a memory that he had of your childhood together when you were 17.
Johnny found you crying in your room. He knocked on the door and came in, sitting beside you on the bed.
“Who do I need to beat up?” he asked putting an arm around you. You smiled shyly at him, but you were unable to lie to him, and you burst into a fit of sobs.
“H-He dum-dumped me.” You managed between sobs.
“Carson?” Johnny asked naming your now ex-boyfriend. You could only nod.
“What?!” He said out of fake disbelief. “Aw, Y/n. I’m sorry.” He pulled you in closer to place a quick kiss on the side of your head.
“He did it by text.” You admitted. “I’ve tried calling but he won’t answer.”
“What a total douche nozzle!” Johnny exclaimed.
“It feels like my heart has been put through mom’s meat grinder.” You cried and Johnny held you to his chest and let you sob into his shirt.
“The Kitchen-Aid?” Johnny asked and you just nodded. He just squeezed you tighter and started rocking back and forth to calm you.
Johnny looked at you questioningly. You just started to weep, bending over and holding your stomach as you wailed. “You are such a god damn ass hole!” you yelled passed Johnny to Erron.
Erron looked so defeated. He tried to speak again but in a split second, Johnny looked at him and held up his hand for him to stop talking. Erron held out his hands to you and took a step towards you, but Johnny pressed his hand against Erron’s chest to stop him. Both of them looked back to you.
“Johnny,” You started as your wails calmed down, “Kitchen-Aid.” That was all you had to say for Johnny to know that your heart was breaking as you were all standing there. His concerned face turned to look at Erron while turning to quite possibly the angriest face he had ever made.
“You hurt my sister.” Johnny said pointedly at Erron. And then he made a fist and hurled it at Erron’s face. Erron stepped back a few paces as he got hit square in the eye. “Get the fuck out of here!” Johnny yelled. By now there was a crowd drawn to the ruckus. Erron looked at you, hoping you would tell him to stay. His eyes pleaded at you. But your heart was demolished. And so you just gave him the finger. Sadly, Erron turned and walked through the crowd and left.
///
It had been nine days since Erron had left. Johnny and his team had managed to capture the people that were trying to kidnap you, so you were free to go home. You had researched several cures for heartache, but none of them seemed to work. You were working on another possible cure when there was a knock on your door.
You were surprised to see the tall cowboy standing at your door. You were just about to slam the door in his face when he called to you.
“Wait!” He said, “Please?” You looked at him, the absolute sadness filling you once again. You tried to hide how much he damaged you with anger. But you knew he could see right through you. “I brought you dragon scales.” He added quickly.
That got your attention. Dragon scales were incredibly rare and incredibly useful for making powerful potions. You couldn’t deny that you wanted them. So slowly you opened the door wider, eyed Erron suspiciously, but then ultimately, motioned your head for him to come in.
“Thank you, Ma’am.” He said taking his hat off, holding it to his chest, and then bowing slightly to you. He walked in and the hard step of his boot filled your home. You closed the door and went back to your kitchen.
“What are you making?” He asked trying to make conversation.
“Cure for heartbreak.” You answered matter of factly. His head fell immediately at your words.
“I tried to tell you that I was gonna come back.” He said solemnly. He put his hat on a table and came to you in the kitchen. You looked at him but didn’t respond. You just went back to stirring the contents of your pot. You heard him sigh deeply behind you and then the sound of his boots on the floor.
Erron stood directly behind you. He put each of his hands on yours, forcing you to drop the spoon into the pot. He wrapped both of your guys’ arms around you as he pulled your back to his chest to capture you in a tight hug. He bent his head down into the side of your neck. He inhaled the smell of your hair deeply.
“I’ll always come back.” He said into your hair. Tears were streaming down your cheeks. “I’ll always come back to my girl.” He said as you cried and sniffled. You suddenly turned around in his arms to face him. You wrapped your arms around him and squeezed him to you. He kept his arms around you and held you to him still.
“I was so afraid.” You confessed to him.
“I know, and I’m sorry. But you gotta know that I’ll always come back to ya.” Erron soothed as he put one hand on your cheek and urged you to look up at him. He bent down to kiss you softly.
Through tears you kissed him back. You could hear him sigh in relief that you accepted his kiss. It grew more passionate as you continued kissing. Soon you found yourself getting more heated. The wetness between your legs increased. Your hands started fumbling with the zipper of his leather vest.
You got the zipper down and Erron pulled the garment off of himself, leaving him with a bare chest. He reached down for the hem of your shirt and quickly pulled it over your head. His hands roamed around your body, giving your breasts a squeeze before letting them rest on your butt.
Your hands felt up and down his chest and abs. Once you started trying to undo the belts around his hips, Erron wrapped his arms around your waist and he picked you up. He carried you into your bedroom and set you down on the bed so that you were sitting on the edge and he knelt in front of you. He took off his belts and then went to cup your face before kissing you deeply again.
“I’m so sorry, darlin’.” He said between kisses. “I’m so sorry I scared you.” He kissed you again. “You need to know that I’ll always come back.” He rested his forehead on yours. “Let me make it up to you?” Erron looked you in the eyes. You saw that all of his words were the truth in his eyes. He meant everything that was coming out of his mouth. You leaned forward and kissed him and then nodded. He cupped your cheek in his hand and pulled you in for another kiss. “Lay back baby girl.” He said as his hand trailed down to your chest and he gently pushed you to lay back onto the bed.
Erron’s fingers undid the button on your pants and he pulled them and your underwear off of your legs. He part your legs and wrapped his arms around your thighs, giving them a tug to pull you closer to him. He kissed gently up each of your thighs, leaving little love bites on each before he reached your core. He left a kiss to the lips there while he looked up at you. You were leaning on your elbows watching him.
“Lay down.” He ordered in a more authoritative voice than before. You smirked at him. “I won’t continue if you don’t lay down.” He said. You gave him a wary look before ultimately listening to him and resting your head on the mattress.
He licked a long strip up your pussy and stopped to suck on your clit once he got to it. It made you squirm. He ceased his actions and looked up at you.
“You gotta stay still, baby doll.” He commanded.
“Or what?” You asked playfully. He smiled and gave your thigh a hard bite. “OUCH!” You said but couldn’t hide the laughter in your voice. Erron looked up at you waiting for you to comply with his orders. You huffed and laid back down on the bed.
Immediately he started to work on your clit with an assault of kitten licks intermingled with him taking it into his mouth to suckle it briefly before going back to licking. The feeling was amazing and intense and it took everything in you to not move. But it was too much. Suddenly, and without your accord your hips bucked up.
“Oh no, baby girl.” Erron said coming away from your centre. You whined at the loss of contact. He stood up and took off his pants and underwear. “I told you not to move.” He came to your legs and lifted them so that your pussy was in line with his cock. “I’m gonna hafta punish you now.” He said before ramming himself into you as far as he could go.
You moaned at the action and you could see Erron smirking at you through your hooded eyes. He pulled out until just the tip was in and then he rammed back into you. The pace was slow but steady, and every time he came back in with such force it felt incredible.
“Mm, faster, please.” You begged.
“Nuh uh.” Erron countered with a shit eating grin. “If I give you what you want then you won’t learn.” He pulled out and dropped your legs. “Scoot back, darlin’.” He said. You did so and he followed you back on to the bed, crawling up your body, leaving kisses up your legs, stomach, chest, and then finally, your lips. The kiss was passionate and dominant on his end. Your tongues danced around with each others, but you knew it was his that was in charge. He kissed away from your lips, down your jaw to your neck. Once he got to the crook he started to leave little nips here and there. He got to your shoulder he kissed and sucked the skin there leaving a love bite. All the while his hand traveled down between your legs and he massaged your clit gently. It was both heaven and torture at the same time. You wanted more. More of him. All of him.
Soon Erron took his cock in his hand and you wrapped your legs around his waist. He teased your entrance with the tip of himself before he slowly entered you. He kissed you as he moved in and out at a good pace. It was sweet and tender. Not at all like the Erron you knew. But when he pulled away from kissing you to look deep in your eyes and rest his forehead on yours while he pumped in and out of you, you knew this time was different. This time, you weren’t just fucking. He was making love to you.
“Erron?” You said questioningly. You moaned as soon as you said his name. He kissed you again.
“Y/n,” He started, half moaning your name. “I love you.” He said with all seriousness as he gazed into your eyes. You looked into his and saw that he meant it. Every word.
“I love you too, Erron.” You said back breathlessly. You kissed again. You were getting close. You could feel the familiar knot in your stomach churning. You moaned again but this time it was louder than before.
“Come for me, baby.” He said kissing down your neck to find your sweet spot. You gasped when he found it and he continued to kiss and lick it until he felt your walls clutch around him. It felt so good to him that he came as well. You didn’t care that it was inside of you. You could deal with that later. All that mattered right now was that he was truly yours and you were truly his.
Erron Black loved you.
“Welcome back.” You said breathlessly as he pulled out of you and wrapped you in his arms.
“Thank you, darlin’.” Erron said before kissing your forehead sweetly.

-------------------
It had been a few days since Erron and you got together. He still kept an eye on you while your brother, Johnny, was away. You had spent the day toiling in your garden, making sure that the herbs and other plants that you used in your potions were doing well: weeding, watering, fertilizing, transplanting. Erron tried to help but he accidentally pulled out a gladiola instead of a weed and so you sent him to the bench, and he just watched you.The work left you sweaty and dirty and you really just wanted to shower.
After you turned the water on you started to undress. You caught yourself in the mirror, and just like most times you saw yourself, your heart sank. You really did not like the way you looked. Your stomach and thighs were too big with too many stretch marks. Your arms were flabby. You were starting to notice that you were growing a double chin. Your hair was thinning, your skin was dry, you had dark circles under your eyes. You saw all of this in the mirror and you couldn't help the tears that welled up in your eyes as you tried to muffle your sob so that Erron wouldn’t hear it. Quickly you got in the shower and tried to forget about your horrible body.
Why would Erron be with someone that looks like me? You thought to yourself. You remembered what he looked like without his clothes on; basically a sculpture crafted by the universe’s finest artist. His chest, his abs, his arms...his butt; they all made your mouth water and your core quiver at the thought of them. He deserves someone with a better body, and a better face than me. You thought to yourself. The idea of him being happy and satisfied with someone else made you sob before you could stop yourself. You put a hand on the shower wall and just cried into the water. Then you heard the door to the bathroom open and close.
“Hey darlin’.” You heard Erron’s familiar voice call to you. The sound of metal hitting the floor made its way past the sound of the shower itself. You quickly wiped your tears away and opened the curtain just a little to stick your head out and see what Erron was doing. You saw him undressing in your bathroom.
“What are you doing?” you asked, knowing full well what he was doing.
“I’m joining you.” He said simply. You couldn't help the small smile that crept on your face. But then the thought of him seeing you without clothes again terrified you. What if he finally saw all of the things that you saw? He would finish his job here and then leave as soon as Johnny came back.
Fully naked now, Erron stepped into the shower with you. You turned the front of your body to face away from him as he entered. He cocked his head at you.
“What are you doing?” He asked, inquiring as to why you weren’t facing him,
“Showering.” You said plainly. He eyed you suspiciously. Reaching out he grabbed one of the hands that was wrapped around your torso and pulled you to face him. Your eyes shot down immediately and the expression on your face dropped in sadness.
“What’s wrong?” He questioned, growing increasingly concerned about you. You sighed and tried to keep your composure. You wouldn't cry in front of him. And since you couldn't be sad, you grew mad.
“What are you even with me?” You grilled. He looked taken aback by the sudden and curt question.
“What do you mean?” He asked stepping closer to you. You stepped back in response.
“Why would you even want to be with me?” Your voice started to rise.
“What are you talking about?” Erron’s voice started to rise too in defense.
“LOOK AT ME!” You yelled back at him. His eyebrows knit together in confusion and his jaw dropped in surprise. He said nothing, either from shock or waiting for you to continue. But he was silent. Your breath was labored from your anger. But you continued anyway. “Look at me! I’m fat. I’m balding. I’m turning all scaly. I’m ugly. I look like I haven’t slept in years. I’m weak. I’m moody. I have one discernible skill. One! I have absolutely nothing to offer you. Why are you with me?!” You had started crying but you didn't care.
Erron’s jaw clenched at your words. His gaze went to the shower wall. It wasn’t until you finished yelling at him that he looked back at you with equally angry eyes.
“Who is filling your head with this garbage? Tell me, because I’ll kill them for ever making you feel less than beautiful.” He said through gritted teeth.
“Well then point the gun at my head because I’d rather my death be quick.” You said crisply. It was at these words that his face fell. The amount of sadness that was written on his was incredible. You were sure that you hadn’t seen anyone that sad except yourself. Erron reached out his arms to hold you. You reluctantly complied with his embrace.
“Y/n?” He said quietly into your ear, kissing just under it gently. “Why would you think such terrible things about yourself?” And at his question you couldn't hold any composure anymore. You started sobbing. Erron shushed you sweetly as he guided you and him to sit down on the shower floor with you in his lap. The warm water fell on you for a few silent minutes before one of you made a sound that wasn't just sobbing.
“Darlin’, I think you are the most beautiful woman I’ve ever laid eyes on. How can you not see what I see?” Erron urged trying to understand what you were going through.
“I just...” You started and wiped your eyes even though you were under the running water and would have to wipe them constantly. You took a steadying breath to gather yourself before continuing to explain how you’ve never really liked the way you looked. And that now that you were the Potions Master you had so many more responsibilities and it was stressing you out. So lately you had been eating and working more, and sleeping less. And the stress was taking its toll on your body.
“Well right now - the way you look right this moment - you are a stunner. The most gorgeous girl in all the realms. As for moody? You’re stressed and you ain’t sleepin’. Of course you’re moody. And as for skills? I’ve spent the last two weeks with ya and I can tell you that you have way more skills that you realize. You’re good with potions, yeah. But you’re also a great cook and gardener. You took such good care of me after I got shot. There isn’t even an wound there anymore. You know more about plants and animals than anyone I’ve met. You’re smart, and sweet, and kind. But you won’t let yourself be pushed around. You’re the most amazing person I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting.” Erron told you. He brushed some of the wet hair away from your face. It made you smile a little bit. And you smiling made Erron smile.
“And to be perfectly honest, its taken everything I have to not get a hard on for you right now.” He admitted cheekily and you couldn't help the chuckle that escaped you.
“There’s my girl.” He encouraged, tipping your head up to his. He pressed his lips to yours dreamily and you couldn't help but kiss back. You smiled at him and he smiled back as he cupped your cheek gently.
“If it takes the rest of my life, I swear that I will make you see how beautiful you are. Inside and out.” Erron promised you. All you could do was smile shyly at him and nod.
