In the Name of the Father (1993). An Irish man's coerced confession to an I.R.A. bombing he did not commit results in the imprisonment of his father as well. Meanwhile, a British lawyer fights to clear their names and free them.
Daniel Day Lewis always delivers! A riveting drama that balances four films in one - psychedelic sixties free love film, harrowing police and prison thriller, compelling legal procedural and furious resistance film. It's anchored with a tender father-son story that it never loses focus of. Could've been a bit tighter in parts, and a bit more time with the supporting players would've been appreciated, but overall a great film. 8/10.
