bren   tosses   a   piece   of   popcorn   at   the   back   of   astrid’s   head.         she’s   bent   over   her   homework      —      homework   that   bren   has   already   finished.

“      asking   if   you   want   my   help   is   not   saying   you   cannot   do   it,   @erzmagier​​.      ”            she   is   so   very   stubborn      —      always,   of   course.      bren   smirks.            “      maybe   i’m   just   bored   of   waiting   around.      ”

If she had a silver piece for the evil wizards they befriended, she'd have three silver pieces. Four, if you included Caleb. Five, if you called Yussa evil. ( Which he wasn't, Jester would insist, he's just a bit silly. ) In the peace, however, there are still moments of tension. She's heard plenty of stories from Fjord about awkward encounters with Eadwulf in the Menagerie Coast.

And then there was. Well. Whatever the hell this is.

" Your heartbeat’s really loud, " murmurs @erzmagier , who lays her head on Beau's bare chest. They're both sprawled on the expositor's bed, having decided to move the whole hate-fuck thing there instead of ruin her study. Again.

" Uh, yeah, " Beau says with a laugh, " probably 'cause you just fucked my brains out. " She can practically feel the way her pulse quickens again, in embarrassment now instead of arousal. " You wanna get your, uh, your invisible guy to like. Get us some water? Or what. "

      *      ERZMAGIER      /      ft.   astrid      —      “      i’ve   been   less   than   half   myself   for   more   than   half   my   life.      ”

caleb   can   understand   that   well.         he   can   hear   the   regret,   the   hurt,   and   the   anger   in   her   voice.      he   can   feel   the   pain   that   one   can   only   feel   if   they   have   known   it   themselves.

they   are   on   the   ice   alone   at   his   and   essek’s   rink,   caleb   and   @erzmagier​​,   in   the   middle   of   the   night.      he   does   not   sleep   well,   and   it   would   seem   that   neither   does   she,   given   how   often   they   cross   paths   here   after   he   gives   her   a   key.      he   does   not   expect   that   sort   of   confession      —      that   level   of   vulnerability   and   openness      —      and   he   lets   it   sit   between   them   for   a   few   beats   of   heavy   silence.

“      i   know,      ”            he   answers   quietly.            “      i   think   about   that   often      —      especially   when   i   am   teaching   the   little   ones.      ”            caleb   smiles,   but   his   smile   is   half-sad.            “      we   were   so   young   .   .   .      too   young.      ”            it’s   been   work   to   be   able   to   say   it   all   aloud      —      hard   work   that   caleb   does   not      (   cannot   )      regret.

 WINDOWS   WIDE   OPEN,     the   sound   of   waves   crashing   against   the   shores   is   a   gentle   backdrop   to   jester’s   excitement.   she’d   changed   out   of   the   fancy   dress   she’s   been   wearing   into   something   light   and   floral,   and   it   swishes   at   her   ankles   as   she   spins   astrid   around,   a   hurricane,   a   whirlwind.   hasn’t   really   stopped   smiling   for   what   feels   like   days   now,   and   it’s   so   much   happiness   she   doesn’t   really   know   what   to   do   with.   so   she   pulls   astrid   down   to   give   her   a   kiss,   a   low   purr   deep   in   her   chest.

 ❝     ⸻     and   you   know   how   yussa   super   owes   us   for,   you   know,   saving   him   from   the   city,     ❞         she’s   saying,   stopping   to   look   at   the   living   room,   their   living   room.   it’s   a   little   bare   right   now,   but   that   only   means   it’s   a   blank   canvass.   they’ll   paint   it,   together,   in   time.         ❝     well,   he   agreed   to   make   like,   a   permanent   teleportation   circle   here   ??   so   you   can   come   home   in   the   evening.     ❞

                  Every  time  she  thinks  there’s  a  moment  of  respite  Astrid  proves  unrelenting,  tipping  her  over  the  edge  before  she  has  a  chance  to  fully  claw  her  way  back  to  the  ledge.    Breathless,  even  with  a  constitution  as  ancient  as  her  own,  she  finds  herself  begging  as  she  fights  to  continue  watching  Astrid  work  her  magic  between  her  thighs  and  not  give  in,  to  throw  her  head  back  and  close  her  eyes.      “Please,”      Rebekah  pleads,  though  whether  for  mercy  or  release  once  more  she  can’t  tell  through  the  haze.    She  reaches  out,  to  try  and  hold  onto  Astrid,  at  any  attempt  of  grounding  herself.      “Close    –    please.’

@erzmagier sent: ( SLIDE ) sliding down the hand down mine’s back.

Hair still slightly damp with a stolen robe around her shoulders, she watches Astrid in reverse through the mirror before her, pretending to concentrate on brushing her hair. Not that she tries hard, unashamed in her gaze even when the other makes eye contact in the reflection. If anything it only gives her cause to stand a little taller, a small smile on her lips as she gathers her hair to the side to let it fall over her chest. Honestly she had expected a comment on just how comfortable Rebekah had made herself in the home – as if given every right to do so, still pressing on the boundaries… not quite to push past them but rather to see how close to the line she can toe.

Her gaze finally breaks when Astrid moves to stand behind her, a little more committed to her show of concentrating on her hair, though any tangles it had gathered are long gone now. Rebekah’s shoulders roll back slightly, back arching in the wake of the touch, of the goosebumps that seem to trail Astrid’s fingers down her spine. Her smile only grows, a little wicked in its edges as she tilts her head, “would you like the robe back? I figured since you weren’t using it…”

      *      ERZMAGIER      /      ft.   astrid      —      [   SORROW   ]      receiver   hears   sender   crying   and   approaches   to   comfort   them

bren   loves   the   nights   when   he   has   the   ice   to   himself.         he   appreciates   trent’s   teaching   and   guidance,   of   course      —      he’s   more   than   a   coach,   almost   a   father      —      and   he   has   never   really   known   skating   without   @erzmagier​​   and   eadwulf.      but   sometimes,   as   trent   always   points   out,   bren   does   not   always   handle   the   pressure   of   it   all   as   well   as   he   should.      having   some   time   alone,   to   skate   as   he   pleases   for   a   moment,   helps   with   all   of   that.

he’s   heading   to   the   changing   rooms,   to   shower   off   and   grab   some   ointment      and   ice   for   his   ankle      —      it’s   not   broken   anymore,   but   it   still   swells   up   sometimes;      it   can’t   be   that   way   when   he   checks   in   for   an   exposition   next   week      —      when   he   hears   it:      crying.      he   knows   it’s   astrid   before   he   sees   her   as   he   turns   the   corner,   sitting   on   the   floor   between   the   massage   table   and   stretching   bar.

astrid   never   cries.      bren   drops   his   skates,   on   his   knees   beside   her   before   he   barely   blinks.            “      sassa   .   .   .      when   did   you   get   here?      are   you   okay?      ”            he   panics.      he   didn’t   really   ask   trent   about   coming   down   to   the   rink   tonight,   far   later   than   bren   should   be   awake.      if   astrid   is   hurt,   they’ll   both   be   in   trouble.

there   is   something   that   is   always   thrilling   about   teasing   each   other   in   public.         master   ikithon   would   order   them   both   punished,   bren   and   @erzmagier​​,   for   acting   like   wanton   fools   in   the   midst   of   important   guests   .   .   .      but   master   ikithon   is   not   here   tonight.

“      are   you   attempting   to   steer   me   away   from   my   duties   tonight,   astrid   becke?      ”            bren   asks,   in   a   quiet   reply   that   is   equal   in   suggestion   to   astrid’s      —      though   he   wears   a   sharp   grin   that   she   does   not.      astrid   rarely   ever   smiles   in   public      —      in   the   presence   of   folk   who   are   not   bren   or   eadwulf.            “      that   is   a   very   dangerous   thing   to   suggest.      ”
