ps. in armor wars, tony/iron man ditched all government regulations and stuff in order to take stolen weapons back from supervillains. IM1 owes much of its plot to that arc. the whole weapons guilt thing that mcu tony has going on was first explored in more detail in armor wars too ("how many! how many have drawn blood with my sword!"). west coast mansion on top of a hill overlooking the ocean + super sophisticated underground armory/workshop? also from around armor wars
i've been there, by the way. out-argued by The Neckbeards. sheer spite was like a somewhat solid chunk of my motivation to read the entire iron man series
It was an interesting first experience i wish i coulda fought more, but i don’t retain that textbook sort of knowledge like he had. He even asked me what ‘gatekeepery’ was like he didn’t know? do they not know? that they are trying to keep new fans out with this behavior? its very strange.
g o s h he didn’t even bother to try and delve into the guilt and self hatred of tony when i mentioned it! like tony’s main and underlying character never existed and that all of the typical surface bullshit of his masks was all there was. like holy christ. don’t come at me about hank pym getting his character destroyed and how he was in the middle of a mental breakdown or w/e and then completely ignore all of tony stark’s decades long slow crash and burn mental collapse! how hypocritical!
