Where the fucks my fucking train London Underground (London Underground). 📸: @chloewally #ha#london#tourist#AlbumComing2018#escalatingquickly (at Camden Town)
In an awesomely poignant ending to an epic Southern Californian cousin pilgrimage, the eldest son of the eldest son and the eldest daughter of the youngest daughter gave the spirit of our grandmother, Nannie (encapsulated in one of her favorite foods, a coconut shrimp) a proper funeral by throwing her spirit into the sunset 🌅 Stay VERY tuned for the part where a seagull (obviously the spirit of my grandpa, Daddy Stu) comes to find her in the sunset ...and they fly away together. 💕#itstartedsillyandgotveryemotional #escalatingquickly #🦅#🍤 (at Venice Fishing Pier)

so I figured I'd run into a chapter like this sooner or later. It says that "As comforting an idea as it is, there is simply no balancing force out there for independent events. 'What goes around, comes around' simply does not exist." which is pretty much an absolute argument to one of my beliefs that there are ups and downs but everything's balanced.
Before I get into this, he did mention the a previous chapter, regression to mean, saying that things are balanced in a way like if it's been raining and dropping temperatures for a week, chances are it will stop and it will get warmer again and go back to its "mean" of just a normal sunny day; athletes don't like to get on the front pages of magazines when they have one spectacular performance because they subconsciously know that the same thing will not happen again and again, rather it'll go back to its "mean" of like 2 home runs per game instead of 20; a C student got an A for once but it's more likely that he'll get a C again next time unless he strives hard to improve his average in general.
In this chapter, he focused so much on the casino since this is called the Gambler's Fallacy, saying like if a coin is flipped 20 times and it landed on its head every single time, and you had to bet all your money on the next flip, would you bet it on heads or tails? If you bet on tails like most people would, then it's likely that its cuz you fell into this fallacy in thinking that it's been heads all this time it should eventually be tails. But really, each flip is an independent event and they do not affect each other, like the coin wouldn't be like hmm i been heads all this time maybe i should switch up now. The chances are still 50 50 and you should not make your decisions preferring the previous outcome over the probability.
And that's argument, that independent events don't affect each other. Although for the rain example, "complex feedback mechanisms in the atmosphere ensure that extremes balance themselves out. In other cases, however, extremes intensify, for example the rich tend to get richer" But I'd say that everything's always connected somehow, hence the butterfly effect. Take my recent "karma experience" for example, I gave up a seat to an old man and he pointed me to the right direction of where i should be going. Did these two events have any connections? I'd say so, because if I hadn't interacted with the old man, he prolly wouldn't just come up and ask me where I'm going and that I might be at the wrong bus stop.
I do realize that it is really naive for me to say everything's always connected and balanced and use my own opinions and beliefs to argue, but because obviously he's got strong points and I can't argue with that. BUT. Good philosophers and thinkers like him disregard feelings and emotions and religious values in arguing, they're tied to reasoning. Like if a dinosaur is chasing you and your girlfriend, and she trips and is about to get caught up by the dinosaur, would you go back and save her? To this question, they'd be analyzing like if you choose to save her, are you helping her get up and you start running again? Or are you carrying her on your back cuz maybe she twisted an ankle? But wouldn't down slow you down then both of you'd get caught? How long have you guys been dating? Is she replaceable? Do you think she'd be any benefit to you? I've been thinking about it for awhile do I still have time? Would she survive cuz the dinosaur chooses to go after you and she'll come back and kill you instead? Is it time to be a gentleman? Because philosophy is all about asking questions, but not necessarily answering them. For me I'd just be like THAT'S YOUR FREAKING GF GO SAVE HER OMG
But hey, that'd be emotion taking over. Because this is freaking life, where you can't neglect your own bodily feelings and stick to reasons all the time. Many philosophers spend too much time analyzing life and trying to figure out how to live the perfect life and make the perfect decisions that they don't even live anymore. You can't be perfect, so you might as well believe that there is someone looking out for you up there and just go with it, and believe that there are ups and downs in life but it will eventually come back to its "mean".
What goes around will come back around because I believe in it.
In Asia, they sell videogame disks that only work in their country. Like my friend bought a couple of disks and a game console but only those that use the console he bought worked, other ones are now worthless cuz they’re not compatible with consoles made outside of Japan.
I got a couple of disks for super cheap there for Xbox 360. But I know that they won’t work on my Xbox unless I “unlock” it, so I asked one of my mom’s friends who works in the computer industry and has a lot of game consoles in his house and see if he can do it. He does, and after I gave him some info on my console…
Weeks went by, and my mom informed me a couple days ago that, he’s dead.
He’s always had high blood pressure, and one day he didn’t take the pills on time, his blood vessels exploded, and caused his death. He’s 49.
Shit’s real. I tell her and those I love to take care of their bodies for real, that when they’re in their late 20s or 30s, all that habit you had when you were this young, all those nights you think staying up and chatting with your friends or even doing hw, will corrode your body and weaken your system. Before you know it, you’ll have problems here and there.
My dad has countless stories of how most of his friends back in high school and college are DEAD now. He’s 59 right now.
When his wife informed everyone that he’s dead, she cannot emphasize enough how much she hates his bad habits, and all the “I told you so”s. But as always, when you finally realize what you’ve done wrong,
It’s too fucking late.
