Lexus woke up to a bright light. Even though she desperately tried to cling to sleep, squeezing her eyes shut, she was overwhelmed by warmth and a bright yellow light shining in her eyes. She opened her eyes cautiously, turning to the window to confirm that it was indeed the sun and not some cop flashing their flashlight at them. Without moving, her eyes wandered over to Cameron. Whenever Lexus woke up she tried her best to stay incredibly still. Sometimes, is she stayed still enough, she’d trick herself into thinking she was asleep and therefore lulling herself into a false sense of reality. This world was wonderful! This world allowed her to pretend that Cameron would not eventually wake her up! She could sleep forever! However, she felt no arm around her waist and despite knowing that Cameron was here to stay and not going anywhere, she hated it. With an almost silent groan, Lexus scooted over to him and delicately draped his arm around her waist. Her brown eyes scanned over the blankets they were supposed to be sharing. To her surprise, they were not draped solely around her. Cameron was lucky last night, she realized with a smirk. He actually managed to steal some covers back from her. Begrudgingly, she draped more of the covers over him. It wasn’t typical of her but he’d appreciate it when he woke up and that was all that mattered. Soon, Lexus’ eyes slipped closed once more but opened again for a brief moment. She glanced outside once more before turning slightly to fumble for a crappy little watch Lex had gotten from her parents a long time ago. She almost never wore it. Though, last night,while she was packing, she couldn’t help but take it along. The nineteen year old blinked a few times, trying to adjust to the light as she read the time. 3:30. She blinked again, now rubbing her eyes. 3:31. How was that possible? Had they really slept the whole day away? Surely the staff at Thornewood had found out about their escape. Did they send the cops after them? Maybe…but it didn’t matter. They weren’t important enough to search out of state for. They were in the clear. Or, that was what she promised herself after the couple had finished their coffee this morning. Lexus put down the watch, sighing comfortably as she tucked her head underneath Cameron’s chin, closing her eyes for a moment. She felt herself to begin to fade back into the comfort of sleep now that she was comforted by Cam’s presence. She could sleep for a little while longer, right? The sun didn’t set until at least 8:30, anyway.
