Sooo ... to celebrate my 100th post on Tumblr, I'd like to give a doujinshi review. Well, I didn't have anything to do, so I thought it wouldn't hurt making this. Just for fun. I might post another, but who knows~ For this, it's my all time favorite doujin from my favorite circle!

Art
Okay, so it’s pretty much a very important thing in a doujin, since it quite determines the comfort in reading it. A good art means the circle have to make everything good; drawing characters, drawing backgrounds, details, tones and inks, the angles, etc. Those five are my most concern in a doujin, so I’ll make this review based on that.
1.1. Drawing Characters
In “Uso Kuchibiru”, I must say ESCAPIZMA drew Kise and Aomine very well. In fact, she is one of circles I adore from their art. The body proportion is great. Aomine and Kise’s handsome face were drawn very nicely here; in fact ESCAPIZMA’s drawing is my favorite.
From my point of view, the characters drawn by ESCAPIZMA seemed very mature. She has this style of drawing Aomine and Kise like a bit more matured than high school students, but it doesn’t affect my comfort because it’s still amazing. I must say, too, her drawings are quite real, as if it isn’t a doujin anymore. This proves my opinion that ESCAPIZMA is a professional.
1.2. Drawing Backgrounds
Just as the characters, ESCAPIZMA draws backgrounds like a pro. It is detailed, real, beautiful, and the backgrounds connect to the story. I don’t pay major attention to backgrounds, but in this doujin, the backgrounds are just so beautiful.
1.3. Details
What I mean here as details are minor things to fill the panel, like a pillow, or phone, things that are trivial but matter. ESCAPIZMA is good, but I see nothing special or particular in this doujin. The details just blend with everything in the panel. It’s not a bad thing though.
1.4. Tones and Inks
Oh, tones and inks. I don’t have any experience with tones or inks, since drawing isn’t my hobby. But I do have a friend who likes to draw as well. This has given me something to talk to, but I am no expert, so I can’t give you professional opinion.
ESCAPIZMA doesn’t use complicated tones and inks, I guess. Aomine and Kise’s uniform are pretty normal, as well as Aomine’s hair. Aomine’s tie is a little different, but not actually complicated. Her toning for describing feelings and flashback though, it’s beautiful and felt so in place. It fits so well that I just, I don’t understand but I am awed. The toning and inking too, it’s so clean and tidy.
1.5. The Angles
This doesn’t matter very much unless you’re taking a really good look to it. For me, there’s nothing wrong with the angles in this doujin. Body proportion is fine, too. There’s a panel on page 18 where the drawing and the angle is not so clear, but if you don’t pay attention to details, it’ll slip your mind.
Art score: 5/5
Characterization (this part may contain spoilers)
Well, since I’m a writer too, so I consider these things are my territory. Hmm, so, ESCAPIZMA is a good circle, I see. In this doujin, I think Aomine and Kise are IC (In Character). Aomine is a bit tsundere, and he’s pretty ignorant to Kise to hide the fact that Aomine actually misses Kise too, so sweet.
In “Uso Kuchibiru”, it is Kise who makes the first move, and that’s pretty much not so IC, but Kise is hasty and frustrated, so I think that’s reasonable. Aomine being pervert and teases Kise is IC. Kise blushing and just being a cutie pie, very IC. Their smut scene is, God, hot. But not the hottest, because compared to other smut doujins, this one is pretty regular. The best part is when Kise finally collapsed. I won’t give you spoilers, but I can tell you, most of the feels are there. It gives me the chill and ESCAPIZMA just hit me right there, in the right spot. This is pretty much my favorite scene in this doujin.
Characterization score: 4.5/5
Idea (this part may contain spoilers)
The idea is pretty much simple and mainstream. Aomine and Kise miss each other, they meet up, and ended with they having sex. What is different is that Kise is the one who confronts Aomine to fuck him. Also, this doujin contains quite a lot of feels and angst, mostly because both Kise and Aomine are frustrated for their decisions of letting each other’s hand in the first place. In the end, they still can’t resolve their problem, but things get better.
Idea score: 4/5
Plot (this part contains MAJOR spoilers)
I think plot is the most important thing in a doujin, so I take really good care of it. A good plot makes a good doujin; it’s as simple as that. A good plot doesn’t have to be complicated. As long as the circle is capable of reaching the reader’s heart with their plot, they are considered successful. In this doujin, this applied. ESCAPIZMA doesn’t have complicated idea or complicated plot. But the way she delivered her message towards her doujin reaches me right in the spot, and I think that’s why I really love this doujin.
The beginning of the story is good, starting with Aomine and Kise watching Aomine’s Horikita Mai video, and Kise pouting at Aomine because Aomine ignores him. ESCAPIZMA even inserts some humor here, and I must say chibi!Kise is cute~
The conflict begins when Kise thinks of, maybe Aomine doesn’t miss him like he do. Kise already sacrifices his training time for Aomine, but finally being treated like this makes him broken-hearted. Then Aomine teases him and that’s it, Kise had enough. Kise pushes Aomine and unbuttons Aomine’s shirt, receiving a playful comment and pervy smirk from Aomine. Things happening later, well, you can guess, right?
The climax is, obviously, when Aomine and Kise are having sex. It starts with Aomine pushes back Kise and Aomine sucks at a bulge on Kise’s pants (obviously his dick, I don’t have to mention it actually) and that turns Kise on. Kise blushes and he backs off, but Aomine isn’t Aomine if he let that pass, right? Then Aomine does anal sex, and things get hot, and I’ll stop here because I don’t want to ruin the fun~
The ending is, well, Aomine and Kise thinking about their feelings toward each other, and about their relationship. Things get a bit emotional, especially on Kise’s side.
Plot score: 5/5
Personal Feel* (addition)
I love, love, LOVE ESCAPIZMA’s works, every single one of them. Every time I read her doujin, I can feel the love she puts on it. Her drawings, her plot, how she describes Aomine and Kise’s feelings, I just love every part of it, no exception. That is why ESCAPIZMA is my favorite circle!
“Uso Kuchibiru” is my favorite ESCAPIZMA doujin, and probably the top three of my favorite AoKise doujin, because I just can’t decide which doujin I love the most. But this is definitely my favorite. The handsomeness, the details, the feels, the descriptive, the loves, the smut scene, the angst part, everything about it is absolute perfection! Read this, and you won’t regret it, I’m serious.
Personal score: 5/5 (I just can’t give it 6/5, can I?)
This is pretty much my first doujin review. I hope you enjoy it and appreciate it. Oh God, an actual contribution to the fandom! Thanks a lot, guys, you just don’t know how grateful I am receiving appreciation. Special thanks to all people related to this post. Oh, and please go read this doujin, for the ones who never read it. It has been translated to English. Don’t forget to credit the circle by buying their original works.
