i really, sincerely was trying to boycott esc this year because i'm still angry at how they changed the choice of the finnish contestant (one predetermined artist that performed one of three possible songs, chosen via public vote, national jury AND FOREIGN JURIES?) but i caved in and watched the final and had to accept that i'm a filthy european at heart. also the distribution of points was SO intense, it reminded me of one of the best and most exciting parts of eurovision. i'll stop fighting my heritage and accept that i'm an esc slut next year regardless of how we choose our finnish contestant

Y-yeah, I had a feeling they'd win after Sweden placed that low with the juries......They really had no way to be stopped....

What was unexpected was how big ESTONIA'S televote was! To the point "Espresso Macchiato" came THIRD!! WHOA WOW!!!

Sweden still came fourth, Albania came eighth, the rest of my faves did well enough (expect Denmark....*sniff*), so I'm recovering just fine!!

Congrats, Austria! Your staging was truly breathtaking! You DESERVE THIS! Wowing me with a song that I normally wouldn't care too much about....awesome!

Overall, I'm glad I was able to enjoy this more casual viewing of the contest! Keeping JUST enough of an emotional distance to need to too caught up in things to the point of stress....it really helped keep my calm enough to the end. The atmosphere was a lot more manageable as a result. It helped that this year didn't have a song I got super-duper obsessed with, which kinda did me over last year. Watching "Rim Tim Tagi Dim" just barely lose after a stressful week kinda drained me, I'll admit. This year, there's none of that. I love my fav songs, but none THAT much.

....Oh, and also, there were no cases of an autistic man having his boundaries violated and getting punished for acting against it. That too.

Overall, yeah, I had a good time. This was a good year with a good winner! I'll still need to recover a BIT after this, but not in a bad way! So.....starting tomorrow, things will be back to normal....

Just....gimme a bit......
